You’re Our Man: A Call For Poetry Submissions
You’re Our Man: a call for poetry submissions - in honour of Leonard Cohen’s 75th birthday on September 21, the Foundation for Public Poetry/Fondation Poésie Publique is seeking submissions of poetry (poetic responses) based upon Leonard Cohen’s poetry. A maximum of seventy-five poems will be selected for this publication.

The publication is a fundraising initiative to help support the commencement of a Leonard Cohen Poet-In-Residence program at Leonard’s old high school (Westmount High).

All submissions will be considered to grant the Foundation for Public Poetry first serial rights. Submissions should include a note of reference to the Cohen poem which the author is responding to. Authors should also include a three-line biography and complete contact information.

For more information, please email: publicpoetry@gmail.com.

Deadline for submissions is July 12, 2009.

Thanks a lot for the information. As the deadline will be very soon I could only sent an older, stupid little poem  but who knows what miracles might happen? God's alive, magic is afoot... :)
Good luck to all the contributers! And I hope the project will really be of some help.

I'm so glad that Leonard is being able to see all this happening in his lifetime.

These two men must have been twin-related.
Watch the Montreal 1961 in between.
Best poetries are to be sung.

This one rocks even after nearly 50 years.

My final contribution to this topic om behalf of Jacques Brel.
Sure Mr. Cohen will spell the words one by one, since he is familiar to the french language.

Dear Lynn,

that is indeed special, congratulations! Is there any possibility that we may read your poem, please? That would be fantastic - thanks!!

Hi Womanfromaroom,

Thanks -I'd love to share it, but I'm not sure if it's allowed - I believe it can't be printed anywhere (print or internet) until it's released in the book. If I find out differently, I'll be happy to post it!

hello everybody,

i'm new to this forum and i have joined because i would like to honour Our Man as well :) it so happens that he has inspired me in writing some poems and i was searching this site to see if there is any way to thank him for that (and for the fact that meeting him has changed my life quite a bit), and i stumbled onto the amazing gifts you are planning for him. unfortunately, i'm a bit too late for the poem book, but perhaps still in time for something else?

i am extremely happy he'll be coming for the second time in my hometown (bucharest), last year it was actually on his birthday :)

thank you in advance for any help!

Congratulations to all of you who have been successful in this venture.
And here's me who started the thread and my poem was rejected :( ...
I look forward to reading them all...at least I will be emailed the details of how to buy it when it does get published.

Again, well done!!
