Boirina, I just wanted you to know that your posting was very touching, it has put a face on the TV news I saw on the European news channel that day.
I hope none of your friends/acquitances died in the bombing and peace returns to the island.

Hi,

We are just back from the Lisbon concert. What a wonderful night, what a wonderful city. At times it seemed to me that Leonard tired and the energy waned but was lifted when needed by the band and an amazing audience who applauded, sang and danced. It reminded me of Dublin last year - was it release or desire or joy at hearing and seeing Leonard again.
For us, Lisbon might be the last time to see him in concert and I left the concert hall filled with gratitude more than elation or any other feeling. Yes we have the music and the memories and our thirteen year old son finally got to see and experience what all the fuss was about - and he enjoyed every moment.
About Lisbon - it just adds to the trip. Friendliness abounded. We were lost in Lisbon at one thirty in the morning after the concert and people seemed to come out of nowhere to guide us to our hotel.
And so we might never see you in concert again Leonard but many many thanks for your music. You thank the audience for keeping your it alive but equally your music has been a teacher for so many.

I've just returned from a fantastic few days in Lisboa, the highlight of the trip obviously being the amazing concert. There's nothing I can really add to what's already been beautifully written other than to say it was simply stunning! Every time I see Leonard he seems to get better and better. He really appears to be enjoying himself immensely which is wonderful to witness! I was fortunate enough to meet our man before the concert which was very special. I'm not sure how long I was talking with him for as the time seemed to stand still. It felt like hours but was probably minutes! Lisboa 2009 will remain in my heart forever.

Hey Merton.... was it you we were sitting next to in the front row? If so, it was lovely to meet you. What a concert, eh?!

And to Gerry.... thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I think the vastness of the Pavillion Atlantic on Liboa lends added atmosphere to this .

Hi Rock Chick,

Yes that was me and it was great meeting you and your partner in crime. A wonderful evening. What is it? Where is this unifying heart leading us all?
Tell me, where did you meet L.C.?
Enjoy Barcelona and New York and I hope everything works for your partner.

They are nothing but a bunch of show-offs!!

Albert's video of "I Tried To Leave You."

I pointed out in another thread Leonard's full blown unapologetic "chuckle" at 7:29 that seems to continues to the end.

Another moment I love - Rafael's showoff time - his concentrated glances upward - and then the ultimate toss - and successful "catch" - whew! At 6:39. At that point, we can see only Leonard's back but you can "feel" the smile, and when he turns around - there it is - Leonard in full smile!

I found some great video on Vimeo from the Lisbon show uploaded by "Sandra Rosa." She has also included lyrics to the songs. I think the videos are taken from the big screen - some wonderful closeup shots of Leonard and everyone else! And the sound is good as well.

Thank you Sandra Rosa.

I HIGHLY recommend that you watch FULL SCREEN - the videos look fantastic full screen. (Click the little square at the bottom right of the video. To return to regular size - hit ESC.).

"I'm Your Man" (nice footage of Dino - and I love the close-ups of Roscoe doing backup vocal - and some audience shots)

Waiting for the Miracle (some breathtaking closeups of Leonard - and everyone on stage)

Anthem (Absolutely wonderful close up shots as Leonard introduces his band and singers. You get to see a shot from behind of Rafael sitting on his throne with his kingdom of drums. )

"Hallelujah" (close up of Neil Larsen on those "hot" keys!)

"In My Secret Life"

It's Closing Time (Title says First We Take Manhattan - but I think Manhattan might have already been taken 'cause - um - it's Closing Time  )

an exceptional "I'm Your Man" in Lisbon

The Lisbon concert you tubes are of really good quality in both video & audio; here the crowd reaction is wonderful and LC picks up on it, for example, ad libbing something like "speak up" late in the song after crooning "I'll do anything you ask me to." I wasn't at the concert but Lisbon is a truly charming city, with an old section that is 600 years old (!). The demonstrative nature of the crowd is especially unusual because, in general, my experience has been that the Portuguese are a bit on the withdrawn side, tho very kind and gentle (I hate the idea of bullfights, but Portugal, unlike Spain, the bull is not killed).

and a stunning rapturous audience sing-a-long with "marianne" which seems to leave LC stunned and exhilarated--note how he lets the crowd sing w/o him in the second (or third?) chorus--the lisbon concert seems to have been amazing--and the you tubes by "albertnoonan" are exceptionally good. ok, i'm going to sleep--no more postings tonight--hope i haven't tried anyone's patience--just trying to share the joy i've found in these you tubes.

Hi goldstei, reading your post (re the Webb Sisters in the News thread) led me to watch the Lisbon videos on YouTube (thanks again Albert, we are greatly privileged to have your delectable recordings to savour). What a wonderful concert, everyone (including Leonard and the band) seemed to have such a great time, it must have been a very special experience to be there.
