Sylvie Simmons interview, RTE RADIO TONIGHT @ 10pm GMT

Post by musicmania »

Tonight at 10pm Irish time Sylvie Simmons is interviewed on Arts Tonight on RTE Radio 1. Not sure if this will be available after as not all their shows are made available as podcasts but it should be available to listen worldwide tonight by clicking the "Listen Live" link at the right hand side of the page on this link.

Thanks for the link, Gwen. That was more like it!...Sylvie's best when left to her own flow of thoughts, and the leading questions were good, here. It showed that within the space of an hour, a comprehensive spectrum of Leonard's life and work could be presented. One thing I didn't know was that Joni Mitchell's "Case Of You" was about Leonard. I had previously heard that both "Rainy Night House" and "The Priest" from "Ladies of the Canyon" were about him. They mentioned that the programme will be on replay facility soon. One thing I must add is that the programme host showed very good taste by choosing "Night Comes On", rather than something more obvious.

What a well thought out programme. Not only is the interviewer well prepared with intelligent questions, he is so familiar with LC and Sylvie's book, that everything moves seamlessly.

You're right John. Ask Sylvie the right questions and let her talk. She will elaborate and reveal things that are not in the book (to the best of my recollection).

This was one of the quickest hours I have spent listening to an interview on LC. I wanted it to go on and on.

Thank you Gwen for this link. I was able to find it in their archives in order to listen to it.

Warmest regards,
Mary

I agree this was very good and very well researched. Sylvie had mentioned it on her Facebook page how much she herself enjoyed the interview and that she was impressed by Vincent Woods knowledge about Leonard. I'm glad RTE have made this available to listen back. Like you Mary I wanted it to go on and on.

Edit: Use this link for the show. It comes on after the news. No Podcast yet but this link should last until next week and hopefully by then there will be a Podcast (or Maarten could work his magic like he did last week ;-) ).
