Dear Leonard ~

With singularity of mind and purpose, I pray that your name be written in the Book of Life for this coming year. May the book still be opened and your name inscribed for many years to come.

All my love and deepest wishes for another, joyous day of gratitude, spent with your family and other loved ones, in remembrance of September 21, 1934 ~ a day for which I feel personally grateful.

Thank you for everything that your life has brought into mine, Leonard.

Love,
Elizabeth

Dear Leonard ~

I think by now you have reached 'single name status'...like Cher or Lassie (haha) Well, i always like funny cards on my birthday, I hope you do too.

Your words and music came into my life just a few years ago, exactly when i needed it most. And continues to enrich and intrigue. Thanks for being.

Happy Birthday, Dear Leonard!

Cheers~

Dear Leonard,
It doesn't seem that long ago when I first resd your poetry ( Spice Box of Earth) in 1965.
Two years later, during a long, cold Scottish winter, I bought your first album, "The Songs of Leonard Cohen".
Both book and album helped carry me through years/decades of study, work, parenting : "the human condition".
My daughter and sons all have their favourite L.C. songs, and yes, they sing them!
Your "three score years and ten" is cause for much celebration in my family.
G*d bless you, Leonard!
May you have a happy 70th birthday.
Mazel Tov :D
and that's from ALL the McGeevers :) :) :)

P.S. Now that you're firmly in the "Third Act" of the play, please write the script for the Fourth and Fifth, the minor fall, the major lift!

70 where have the years gone? You have been a part of my life for the last 30 odd years and by default a part of my family's life? You should be proud to have touched people's souls with your work. I wish you and yours everything you wish yourselves from me and mine. Happy 70th.

I wish a lot of happiness to you, my imaginary friend.

We have spent so good and brillant moments, I have been thought that understood you well. In occasions I have not agreed totally with you but, we have never lost the smile, we cannot get angry.

So much time, and much more that I wait.

Good health companion! = Salut amic meu!

Dear Leonard
I would write to you a thousand lines in appreciation for the emotional moments you have rewarded me. Let me just say quickly that your work inspires me a lot, and that I´ve done some adaptations of your songs and sing them in Catalan (my mother language) and I think I´ve been able to get a deeper understanding of your beautiful pieces along the way... So, is it "terribly strange to be 70" (as Mr. Paul Simon once suggested)? I hope not, and I would encourage you to continue writing songs and playing live on and on (please come again!). Have a great birthday celebration with the ones you love! Best wishes from Barcelona,
Jorcx

Dear Leonard,

I wish you much peace and happiness on your birthday and all other days.
Thank you for all the gifts that you have given through your words, your music, and your nature. You have helped me learn the 'correct attitude' and I am truly grateful.

Happy Birthday!!
