There is no knowing knowing because we'll not be around to watch the full course of tiny Viva's life; yet, I hold to the belief that love prevails and the constructs of family widely vary. Single motherhood can be difficult, indeed, yet Lorca is certainly situated with longtime, solid friends and loving, supportive relatives. I seriously cannot imagine [and if I'm going to imagine anything for Viva, it's going to be a life with love coming from all directions] Lorca's life being one of 'typical' single motherhood, as that term is generally understood. The relationship that Rufus has with Jorn is reportedly a long one and many of the gay people I've known have tended to have relationships of greater longevity than many of the straight people I've known. Some women begin as married mothers and still end up as 'single' Moms, with/without the father's involvement in the child's life. The Cohen family and the Wainwright family each have appeared [long before Viva's blessed birth] to be ones of close knitting. Katherine made sure that Rufus and Martha knew what it is to be loved and valued members of a genuine family that many could only wish to know. Lorca and Adam have unequivocally known Leonard's love and he has demonstrated his support of their mother. Viva has been born into a family constellation overflowing with familial love and support, and for me, that's the best predictor that Viva's life will be of the same pattern and she, too, will know what it is to be deeply loved and supported.

Anjani as Leonard's daughter? Possible with their ages, but the media needs to do more serious searching before publication. And where are the editors doing their double checking?

congratulations to all concerned.

re wakeupmartin's post on page 6- there's also an eponymous beer with which one could toast the occasion.

...Alfred Wainwright, the renowned Lakeland author who was born in Blackburn, was once asked to describe his beloved Lake District, to which he replied “exquisitely lovely”.

Inspired by this, Daniel Thwaites created Wainwright golden ale, refreshing with a delicate citrus fruit flavour and subtle sweetness.

Welcome to the world little Viva Katherine.
No doubt you will be loved and cherished by your parents and grandparents, uncles, aunts and all the friends and admireres of your family.
Nobody knows how your life will be, being born into fame and money does not automatically means happiness, as born into a parentship with one Mother and two Fathes does not mean missery.
No doubt you will receive tons of love from your Parents, whom I am sure have put much more thought into your creation than many "normal" Parents.
Lizzytysh, you said everything so beatiful.
All my best wishes to Viva, Lorca, Rufus, Jorn, Leonard and everybody who have been blessed with this little angel.

Congratulations and love to all ..

Viva Katherine...a beautiful name for the new arrival and a reminder of much-missed Kate McGarrigle, whose memory will live on in more than her music. Inspired choice!

Welcome, little one, and cheers to the happy family :)

This illustrates two points:
1. The Daily Mail is a piece of trash (or rather, rubbish) that should not be read by anyone, ever.
2. It is hard to come by a picture of Lorca, possibly because she is a very private person, a sentiment that we should all respect.

I thought perhaps they got confused because the picture was taking BY Lorca, not OF Lorca, but the credits say Starpulse.com...

I hope it's not Rufus, that would be too incestuous. But he was such a beautiful boy. I met him backstage once when he was a child.
