1960 Photos Of Leonard Cohen, Marianne, Axel Jensen On Hydra
Re: 1960 Photos Of Leonard Cohen, Marianne, Axel Jensen On H
There is another lovely picture of Leonard on this Facebook page (see above post)- posted yesterday. He is on a donkey going up the hill to the monastery and behind him on another donkey is a beautiful girl (not Marianne) who MIGHT be the elusive "American girlfriend" he arrived with. Picture is dated 1960.

A friend recently sent me a link to an article about George Johnston and Leonard Cohen on Hydra, but was unsure if it had already been posted.
I found that "st theresa" posted the text of this article last January.

Here is the direct link.

The article also included a terrific cartoon of Leonard Cohen and George Johnston which I had not seen before.

Thanks Arlene (and st theresa)... an interesting article and great cartoon.
I'm currently reading George Johnston's 'Clean Straw for Nothing', which is a very absorbing read that includes various segments set on Hydra, but only referred to as "The Island".
Cheers,
Andrew
