There is another lovely picture of Leonard on this Facebook page (see above post)- posted yesterday. He is on a donkey going up the hill to the monastery and behind him on another donkey is a beautiful girl (not Marianne) who MIGHT be the elusive "American girlfriend" he arrived with. Picture is dated 1960.

A friend recently sent me a link to an article about George Johnston and Leonard Cohen on Hydra, but was unsure if it had already been posted.

I found that "st theresa" posted the text of this article last January.

Thanks Arlene (and st theresa)... an interesting article and great cartoon. 8)

I'm currently reading George Johnston's 'Clean Straw for Nothing', which is a very absorbing read that includes various segments set on Hydra, but only referred to as "The Island". ;-)
