Roy and Linda, you have been doing an astounding job (also thank you Sue for posting the article) on feeding us all this fantastic amount of information and photos!!! Linda, a special thank you for the video snippets. I do hope there will be more somewhere. Again, kd lang singing H literally gave me chills (is she not starting to look more and more like Wayne Newton, sorry, can't help mentioning that). Judy Collins did a hauntingly beautiful 'Suzanne'. My favorite, LC's speech. Even if part of it is quoting from H, how totally appropriate!
Warmest regards,
Mary

Esther usually photos better, but agree having a shot of them together is very much appreciated. They both dress very well! Thanks Michelle and Jarkko.
In converstions with Esther.... she was very pleased that the cermony went so well. At their table they enjoyed the company of Philip Glass, Leon Wieseltier, Eric Lerner, Michelle and Robert, and a Claremont professor who has been working with LC's notebooks. On the question of the fedora.... it has become a trademark recognition item beginning in 2008 with the tour.
Looks from the videos that the red carpet would have been visible from the street, even if non press weren't allowed access without a ticket.
Winning evening all around for LC!

Re: THE 2010 SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME
Jarkko - thanks for passing along the lovely picture of Leonard and Esther.
And Dick - thanks for the update from Esther. The red carpet event for SHOF is visible from the street - it takes place right along the front of the hotel. But with all the rabid paparazzi and other press there, it would be hard to see around them - or you could have sustained a black eye from a flying elbow if you got too close - or you could also have ended up like Flatman and Ribbon* - .
Still waiting patiently for video for the 2010 ceremonies at the SHOF website. Nothing yet -

Re: THE 2010 SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME
Perhaps the Claremont professor was Robert Faggen, Professor of Literature. Apparently, he was the one who suggested to LC that his artworks be exhibited at Claremont College (which I was so lucky to see) in conjunction with the Philip Glass BOL production in performance there.dick wrote:At their table they enjoyed the company of Philip Glass, Leon Wieseltier, Eric Lerner, Michelle and Robert, and a Claremont professor who has been working with LC's notebooks.
I do not want to stray too far from the focus of the SHOF, but there is a delightful article somewhere in one of the LC websites (forgive me, but I still can't my way around the many LC websites) that tells the story of how LC and Bob Faggen first met. It was something about LC coming down from Mount Baldy for the day to do some shopping in Claremont, standing at a deli counter trying to decide between German potato salad and another kind of salad. Bob Faggen helped him decide. Maybe someone could find this article and post it on another thread.

Re: THE 2010 SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME
Was just now returning to edit my post to add Robert Faggen's name, but thanks to Arlene the blanks are getting filled in.
Agree we are straying too much from SHOF, so suggest when someone finds the story about their meeting it should be posted in a new thread.

Re: THE 2010 SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME
Do you know who was speaking or performing on stage when this photo was taken? Who are they looking at and smiling? I'm guessing Judy Collins, kd lang, or Earth, Wind & Fire.jarkko wrote:And here is one shot by Michelle Rice

I really wish someone had asked Leonard Cohen and Peter Cetera to pose for a photo together.
