How to flag Valencia clip as inappropriate

Post by tomsakic »

Many people in last couple of hours have comment on this video, asking to be removed.

If somebody wishes to join Marie, me, Pete and ladydi (so far) in flagging the video clip titled "Leonard Cohen faints in Valencia during concert", here is how it goes:

Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3upf6BdRXk (the clip's page),
go to FLAG under the screen (on the right, after Favorite, Share and Playlists options),
by clicking on FLAG you'll get "Report This Video as Inappropriate" option,
under "Select a Reason" choose "Violent or Repulsive Content", and under it chose "shocking and disgusting content" (the last one),
and then click on FLAG THIS VIDEO.

I think that you have to be YouTube members for doing this.

Hi Tom

Thanks for showing us how. It is indeed the only right thing to do.

Somebody there wrote:
No, leave it. It only shows the sheer discipline and inner power of Cohen who sings beautifully even though he must have felt terribly. This is dedication and proves how much he wants to give to his audience. If my respect for the man could have grown, it would have. Thanks, Leonard.
This is true. There's no more professional musician, taking care of his audience, as Leonard is.

But still, showing this kind man in his moment of collapse and pain, I don't see that as nothing else than inappropriate attitude which is nowadays unfortunately usual. I can't watch Leonard sitting on the floor, then beside the drummer, and Sharon looking at him realizing that he will faint. And the very moment of the fall. Lucky we that the taper stopped shooting, otherwise we could see him being carried, fainting again, Javier's speech etc. If somebody publishes photos of all this, I will really be amazed by people's unawareness of where's the line of respect.
Mabeanie1 wrote:We were sat centre front at Valencia tonight and saw events unfold before our eyes. This is what I wrote on another thread.

The concert in Valencia started on time but Leonard did not seem on top of his game. He was missing lines & words out. We thought he must be very tired after a heavy week with lots of travelling and several concerts. Then, at the start of Bird on a Wire, he put the microphone back on its stand and went off stage. I have never seen Leonard do that before in umpteen concerts. Meanwhile the band improvised. Then in the instrumental break he took off his hat and sat down on the drum risers. I have never seen him do that before. Then - horror of horrors - he quietly crumpled to the floor. The band stopped playing immediately. Everyone rushed to him and they started to escort him from the stage but he collapsed at least once more on the way. They asked us to wait for a while and suggested that the concert would restart after a short pause. However, almost an hour later, Javier and Roscoe came out. Javier made an announcement in Spanish which I struggled to understand (I got most of the words but couldn't be sure I understood what the sentences meant). I was at the front so I yelled out in Spanish that we were English and did not understood. Roscoe either recognised me or recognised my words because he nodded and stepped up to the microphone to say - for those who did not understand Spanish - that Leonard was OK. It was nothing serious, just a digestive problem but that he could not go on with the concert and that they would try and rearrange it. I hope he is OK. To be honest we are still in a state of shock after our 4 hour drive back to Barcelona from Valencia.

That's right, Tom - you need to be a registered YouTube user. But I think one should create an account just for the solely purpose of flagging this video as inappropriate.

I agree. It's about the time that Cohenites come from the shadows of silent majority, and start their own campaigns against those loud persons. If hundreds of us enter our comments, we can outnumber anybody very easily. And I'm not speaking only about this video. Where are those thousands of Cohen's fans, intellectuals, artists, standing aside watching him being bullied?

The performance of Bird on a wire has been kind of too painfull for me even if he didn't faint.
I don't think that a man of 74 should sing that he has thorn everyone who reached out for him.
Especially Leonard does not deserve it...

I'd rather hear him singing "I know I am forgiven...."

I don't want to see the clip.....
Of course I´m pathetic, I´ve spent my life getting the most impressive stuff out of the most impressive books. Malcolm Bradbury

As one of the oldest Youtube members (since march 2006 when it pretty much started), I can tell you that unfortunately for one deleted video three others of the same 'controversial' content will appear. I've seen it so many times. It's all about 'clicks' and 'more views'. Crap.

I'll flag the video, of course.

P.S. and if you want the uploader to get banned, go to his profile page (click on his username) and click on "Block User". After 25 (or 50, I forgot) blocks from different Youtube users, the account gets automatically suspended.

Dear Tom and the others

I guess you know my love and respect
for Leonard Cohen( I just returned from
Prague where I went to see him).

I also know your love and respect for him.
But I have to disagree with you.

The moment of his collapse at the Valencia concert
is a moment of truth. It happened.
And as someone else said it only makes us have more respect for
such an artist.

The video must stay as a proof of who Leonard Cohen "The Artist" is.

As Tom said --

"But still, showing this kind man in his moment of collapse and pain, I don't see that as nothing else than inappropriate attitude which is nowadays unfortunately usual. - exactly. Hey 'Dem', what if he started vomiting (which actually happened later) on stage and someone filmed it? And it showed up on Youtube?

Or - heaven forbid - had a heart attack?

There actually are videos on Youtube of some (spanish I think) politician having a heart attack and dying live on television.

'Moment of truth', Dem?

Okudzhava:
I understand your point of view.

But what happened in Valencia happened
in public.
(Private matters is a whole another thing).

And if he had vomited it would have been
before the eyes of several thousand people
who were at the concert.

Sorry but I am always for the truth
no matter how ugly it is.
