Why is the DVD significantly cheaper than the CD? Surely the DVD has the same sound, of the same quality, but also has film of the great man? And these days DVDs usually have a host of special features too, such as interviews...

Why buy the CD when the DVD is available at three-quarters of the price?

Jeremek, the Polish seller says that the album will be released on March 30, so they are just taking pre-orders, just like many other legale sellers. Just go ahead and order!

HI Hydriot

It is really strange.
I checked. In Polish shops the price (in polish zloty) is also a DVD smaller than the price CD.

Can somebody explain it ?

The dvd is 1 disc. The cd is 2 discs. That's why the cd cost more than the dvd.

Unless folk are completists why not just buy the dvd and rip the sound from it and make your own cds.

I'm sure Leonard nor Sony won't mind :-)

I thought CDs had better quality (uncompressed) sound than DVDs, because most of the data on the DVD is used to store the images. Or am I wrong? Does anyone know what sort of quality sound we can expect from the DVD? is it like a 128bps MP3? That would do for me.

I for one will be buying both. The DVD for home and the cd for in my car so I can be soothed by Leonard every day all the way to work and back where I have a place saved for me in the traffic jam.

I'll be buying the DVD on the day of its release, and the CD when the price reaches rock bottom at Fopp or Amazon. I'll also be buying extra copies of the DVD as presents. I tend to only listen or watch live CDs/DVDs once or twice (with the exception of "Live Songs"), though I suspect I'll play "Leonard in London" at least half a dozen times (which is the most I have played any DVD).

Hmmm... John. You clearly don't have a copy of the Field Commander Cohen album. On my part, I never buy a CD if I have the DVD. But for LC I will make an exception.

Hi Liamberney,

I haven't played "Field Commander Cohen" much, for two reasons:

1. I hold "Recent Songs" to be so sacred, that I hesitate to listen to songs from it, out of context.

2. My original copy of the CD was personally signed for me, in beautiful silver ink.

That said, it's definitely due for a replay.

All the best, John E
