Thanks for posting these, Barry. The first was, of course, the best.
. . . to put them on a pedestal, and then berate himself and especially them when they turn out to be just as imperfect as he is.
Where is the "especially them" in this?

Hopefully, your wife has leveled off, maybe even normalized, by now, yes? If not, it's not as though I can't understand.
