Registration to Berlin has started!

Post by jarkko »

Dear friends

it’s Sunday morning here in Finland on May 1 and it’s time to open the Event
registration! Henning has updated the Berlin index-page at
http://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/berlin-index.html
and the credit card page for your registration is available. Here is
a direct link to this important page: https://ssl.nebula.fi/cohen

You may register to the Event by paying the special rate of 90 euros
(effective only in May; after June 1 it will be 99 euros, and 109 euros
after January 1, 2006.

However, note that the registration closes immediately when we have the
maximum number of 250 participants.

Of course it is still a long way to go until the opening ceremony on August 11,
2006 but time is moving fast as we all know.

And it will be risk-free for those who register in May: if you have to cancel,
the whole fee of 90 euros will be refunded. Complete instructions can be found
on the registration page!

The transaction will be secure. All information that will be transferred to
the VISA/MASTER CARD clearing house will be encrypted with strong
128 bit encryption. Your credit card information will be handled by the
clearing house only and will not be visible to the organizers. Please
note that you have to fill all fields on the page (except the boxes for
extra participants – just use as many as you need).

Payments are accepted from all countries. Your card will be charged in
EUROS but the amount will be shown also in your own currency in your credit
card bill. Your card will be charged by NEBULA OY (this name appears
on your credit card invoice)

90 euros is equivalent to about 116 USD or 146 Can$. Other exchange
rates can be found at
http://www.oanda.com/converter/classic? ... on&lang=en
Note that the final currency conversion will be made by the credit card
company using the exact rate of that day.

All payments will be confirmed with an email usually within 24 hours
and your name(s) will be added to the list at
http://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/berlin ... pants.html
(Note that there will be some delay in showing the names on the
page if I happen to be out of town!)

Looking forward to meeting many of you in Berlin in August 2006!

On behalf of the Organizing Team

Jarkko

Are you sure you have entered also the 3-digit pin code from the reverse side of the card (those last three digits). And did you give the expiration month/year???

Also: the system accepts only VISA and MasterCard/Eurocard. NO Diners, NO Amex.

-- Some VISA cards also have restrictions in Internet use (last time we had problems with a bank in Greece that has prevented the use of their cards on-line --- and had forgotten to tell this to their clients!)

I paid some moments ago and got my payment through, so the system
works at least here in Finland. However, there have been some breaks in the international internet connections between Finland and the rest of Europe this night. If you still get the error message try again tonight or so.

Registrations coming in... we have now 24 participants confirmed. Cia's problem may be that her card is valid until 2012!? while we have years only up to 2010 on the registration page. We will add more years tonight.

You may check the names at http://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/berlin ... pants.html -- we're also posting some statistics on the home countries. Right now it looks like this:

Australia 1 Participants
Belgium 2 Participants
Finland 2 Participants
Germany 5 Participants
Holland 3 Participants
Italy 2 Participants
Japan 2 Participants
USA/New Jersey 2 Participants
United Kingdom 5 Participants

We have added years up to 2016 to the credit card page.
Cia, now you can use your card! I had never heard that some
banks really issue credit cards with expiration after ten years!!! You must be their VIP client! :P
Jarkko

PS. Now we've got 37 registrations from members in 12 countries. A good start I'd say!

PETE! Did you sign up just because you know you can get a refund; or is this a true commitment on your part!?! And, where's Liz on there?

Thank you Jarkko, now my daughter and I are on the list :D

A piece of good advise: Never use your last dollar and you will be every banks VIP client 8)

Cia, they do say if you owe a bank enough money you effectively own it.

Elizabeth, I reciprocate your sentiments! :D In fact, it will be great to catch up with a lot of folk there!

What I would really like, if registrants would agree to take up the option, is for some way of making a ready connection between participants names and their LC Forum member names/identities (if they are Forum members)! 8)

For those who agree to it (and it would have to be voluntary, as some would want to keep their IDs separate), perhaps it's just a matter of this info being on some sort of list, which would be available when we check in at the registration desk in Berlin.

Cheers :)

Hi Andrew ~

Yes, so many to meet :D ~ and others to see again. 8)

I agree. It was frustrating, even at the registration table, wondering, "Hmmmmmm."

In addition to the list, I'd suggest Name Tags, filled in by the individual, is another option ~ sample:

Name: Elizabeth Bacon-Smith
Code Name: Lizzytysh

["Code Name" sounds more secretive and Cohenesque  ]

Lizzy
Would I register now just for the possibility of a full refund???
Whilst the money isn't in my bank account I'm losing out on fractions of pennies interest each day.

I can go one better than a name badge... I have a t shirt with my avatar on it :D ......... beat that!!!!

 ~ "Uncle"

(I have NO recall of writing "Ooops !!!!" ~ nor even the reason why I would ~ and I don't use four exclamation marks; the most is three, and then only for a specific, very good, reason! YDF needs to be summoned  . Jarkko ~ Would you please delete that post? Seriously, no idea! Thanks.)
