Train songs

Post by Tchocolatl »

I have a thing for train songs. A lately acquired taste (not an acquired taste).

Point the ear to that train lover Erik West-Millette's album : West Trainz

Thanks for the intro T - I wish that I was going to the Montreal Jazz festival this year, I'd love to hear this live. I found a link to the West Trainz album and so far have liked everything I've clicked

Here are some train songs that I already have - didn't realize I had so many and I have a few more as well!
There is much variation in feeling and musical rhythm among them. Actually, the first one is a poem.

Train Leaves Here This Morning ~ The Eagles

Mystery Train ~ Elvis Presley

......and for those who are hooked on train songs, check out this link ....it has about 1000 of them :)

Thanks Cate! I put those words together when I was so pleased to begin studying the violin. I try to practice both it and happiness each and every day :)

Here’s some more train songs lurking in my media player. It has truly surprised me that I have so many! But then I do have a very eclectic range of songs from classical to rock! Train songs seem to be about hellos and goodbyes and all the destination life-stops in-between on the journey.

500 miles ~ Peter, Paul & Mary
(I also have this on an old vinyl LP)
This song is credited to Hedy West and is also called "Railroader's Lament"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExMGEuvl9R8
Casey’s Last Ride ~ Kris Kristofferson
Season 1 True Detective
(I have John Denver’s cover version)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcRsxsjUUAY
Downtown Train ~ Bob Seger's cover of a Tom Waits song

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7z9wd9bS1FM
Homeward Bound ~ Simon & Garfunkel
(Paul Simon wrote this on Widnes train station, England)
