lost discs ?

Post by liverpoolken »

To those to whom it may concern:-

I'm afraid to report that our Essen and Hannover vine hasn't got off to a good start.

Davido posted off the discs to John The Shorts over two weeks ago and we haven't seen the discs since.

John - I've sent you a pm please contact me one way or another.

Ken,
I still have a PM to John sitting, uncollected in my 'outbox' from when I posted the discs on to him.Maybe he's just away from home for a while.

Dave

Thanks for the update.

As you say it looks like John is away.

I had better start the vine again.

I will re organise the vine so that the discs go to the couple of drops on the mainland before heading over to Ireland.

So those invoved please watch your pm boxes.

What a bummer.

Ken, oh Ken,
I'm an internationalist myself
and depending on the vine
but "the mainland" before Ireland,
you've cut me to my red soul.

We have a Dublin resident who is a member of one of my Dylan vine groups and he always insists on calling Ireland the mainline.

At first I thought he was just being a bit Dublin, but was shocked when I finally realised that he really does look upon Ireland as the mainland.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the islanders on Inishmore thought that it was themselves that lived on the mainland.

Talking about the Irish take on geography

I was over in County Clare earlier this year during the elections and I just happened to catch a couple of local politicians going head to head on the local radio. One of them started to give out the latest Dublin crime figures to support whatever point he was trying to make. After he had finished reeling out the statistics his opponent came back with the retort ‘well you and I both know that Dublin isn’t really part of Ireland’.

Despite knowing the point he was trying to make I still fell off the bar stool laughing.

Actually you have a point Ken,
my current wife is from Inishmore and they regard the rest of the country as an island off their shore!

Here's an interesting thing I discovered on my first trip to Inis Mor jimbo - there's no turf on the island! Fact. The bring it in from Connemara!

As the true professional wordsmith that I'm sure you are I see that you chose your words carefully when you came to describe the importation of the green stuff on Inishmore as turf rather than grass.

Ken,
over here grass is grass and turf is turf which is burned for heat.
But over there you'd call grass turf and our turf to you would be peat.

I think this should be in the verse section! :(

John The Shorts I see that you have picked up your PM concerning the whereabouts of the Essen and Hannover discs.

We couldn't hang around any longer so I've just posted off replacements to Paula so if you still have 'em keep 'em.

Ken, how about a punishment for John The Shorts? Like sending them to Australia?

A slight misunderstanding over the use of the word grass.

I thought your careful choice of words was so that we degenerate English islanders didn’t think that there was a thriving drug trafficking operation going on between Connemara and the Arran Islands.

As if.
