6 Montreal Poets on vinyl

Post by beatrice »

Hi- I came across an LP on Ebay that says it features Leonard doing a poetry reading from 1956 or so. It's called 6 Montreal Poets. I didn't see this on the discography - anyone know anything about it? Is it legit?

The album (and others) are featured, not in the Discography
section of The Files but in the "Master Poems". Go to
http://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/poems.html
The album you mentioned is the first official recording of
Cohen's poetry (recorded in 1957). Eight poems read by
the author.

Thanks! Jarkko, you are an amazing font of information.
So the price has already gotten way too rich for my blood on that record - anyway I could get a tape of it from someone? :D

I suggest you bootleg Master Poems, which includes Leonard's part from 6 Montreal Poets, Canadian Poets 1, and poems read in movie Ladies & Gentlemen, Mr Leonard Cohen, radio broadcast of poetry reading in New York 1966, and some collected poems reading taken from various sources till KCRW radio's 1994 reading...

JTS

Never heard of Ka Zaa, but if you have WinMX you might be able to download Master poems if someone has it.

I think that Leonard's bootlegs are more or less OK... He surely has nothing against them!
