Seeking North American Tour recordings

Post by tracer » Fri Feb 27, 2009 12:12 am

I heard the concert at the Beacon Theatre via NPR.org. Does anyone know if this recording is available for purchase? It was great..

Yes, the Beacon show was wonderful ... I wondered why the cd a friend burned for me was so short!!
Having gone to the Monday (April 13th) show in Oakland, seeing him for the very first time in person, I'm looking the first Oakland show.
I'm unable to do "torrent" downloads, but have a handful of Mr. Cohen's shows to offer, if anyone has 4/13/09 on cd. Thanks! Brian (a Cohen rookie at 54!)

Oakland 4/13 posted today on Dime, it's audience recording of the entire show. I converted from Flac and am now holding off on burning it---trust me, I'm appreciative of the person posting this but it just doesn't capture what it was being there live--LC and performers more in the background to the audience.

I just figured out what dime a dozen is...I can't log into their site because it's full, too many users...I don't know how the site works...can anyone check if the Beacon show is there from February 19th? That is what I am looking for...but someone sent me Olympia Theatre Paris France Nov 25, 2008, if anyone has the Beacon to trade! Thanks!

Keep trying Denise, they close inactive accounts regularly, so you will eventually be able to open one.

Here's what I found they have for the show you are looking for:
Leonard Cohen

This is a very good FM recording. Aired Feb. 27, 2009 on WFUV-FM in New York.
Excerpts - not the full show. Edited out some DJ chatter and station spots.
Should do until something better shows up. Samples attached. Enjoy.

I saw L. Cohen at Radio City on 5.16 (Saturday, 1st of 2 shows) and recorded the show. Before you get too excited, I'll tell you about the recording. I brought with me a digital voice recorder (probably cost $15- not really a nice piece of recording equipment)that I was given this past xmas (thanks uncle Jim!). It is an Olympus WS-210S and is about 1/2 the size of a cellphone. This was only my second attempt at recording with this thing but it turned out pretty well. I cleaned it up a bit and divided the tracks. It sounds pretty good when the crowd isn't going ape shit. Let me know if there are any problems. Enjoy!

Thank you Bfullerj and uncle Jim!
The quality is pretty good actually, especially considering the $15 equipment and the limited experience with recording concerts.

Welcome to the forum, by the way!

The Philadelphia show was posted to DIME and has a hiss throughout, which I think is due to the 48 khz sampling, which is not properly handled by my equipment. Does anyone have a copy without the hiss that they could do a b&p with me? Thanks.

I was wondering if anyone has come across a recording of the London ON show on May 24? I went to three of the recent shows in Ontario and London was easily the best of the bunch with both Leonard / band and audience on top form and thoroughly enjoying themselves throughout.
