Hot Contest News- where there's a will...

Post by Critic2 »

there's a Joe Way!!!!!!!!!

choose that damn topic already, mate.

declare at the outset that you are not a blood relative of any potential contestant, that you are too rich/moral to be up for bribing and behave yourself with Linda at all times. She is a reformed Lady and doesn't want any of your nonsense.

Sorted?

kind regards

Linda and I are currently sorting out the details. Look for an announcement in the near future. Good luck all you poets!

Ok,

It has been decided that the poetry contest will begin on Wednesday, January 12th. The topic will be disclosed on that day.

Other rules will be announced within the next day or two.

Good luck, poets, and say a little prayer for the Green Bay Packers.

Joe

Joe,

I was interested in the last poetry contest but the topic (since I am new at this poetry thing) was a little too specific for me. Could the topic be a little bit broader to accomodate the fledglings among us.

Thanks.

Are those topics you might enjoy, C2?

"The Natural" by Bernard Malamud, a wonderful book and then Hollywood accomodates Redford and changes it to a happy ending, the fools. Miami Dolphins at home, 2 years ago, Hebrew National hot-dogs- yummy!

Achilles - I agree with you I hope the topic isn't too specific. It was a real struggle last time.

John K - I had already earmarked "worst poem" accolade and you are gonna have to go some to catch up.

Hello poets!

Yes, I have been toiling away considering various "topics" and I am in agreement with you to make it a bit less specific. I have an idea in mind, but in keeping with my intention to give this a little pre-publicity, I will not reveal it to anyone except, perhaps someone who has a home movie recording of Leonard's concert in Madison in 1970 (that Anne and I attended)-if so step up, the contest is yours! If not, then the sanctity of this contest is not in question.

Linda and I are busy discussing rules and I will tell everyone at the outset that we are hoping for a fun, enjoyable experience-the Nobel Prize for literature will not be awarded to the winner-and to those of you who are reluctant to participate, you have a reluctant judge who had to overcome a distinct lack of confidence and credentials to step up. Remember that you can always blame my inexperience for your inability to win.

Also, thank you, to all of you who've sent your sympathies on the demise of the Green Bay Packers. I'll have ever so much more time now to read your poetry.

Joe, thanks but I hope the topic isn't Leonard Cohen related either. Especially concert-related. That would be almost as specific as seedy hotel.

Achilles - I think the Judge was alluding to bribery rather than that being the topic - you give people power and look what happens
