Go Little Book!!!

Post by jarkko » Sat Dec 03, 2005 12:25 pm

We are again very privileged!

The members of The Leonard Cohen Files have another chance to
read poetry from the forthcoming BOOK OF LONGING.
Leonard's poem "Go Little Book" is on the main site.

Let's express once again our gratitude to Leonard for his '
continuous attention to our Internet activities!

I see more humour and depth await us. Delightful, purposeful poem. A clever beseeching  .

Thank you, to Leonard, for his continuing sharing here 8) . I add in my thanks to you, Jarkko, as well [of course :D , yet still wish to tell you so :) ].

Love,
Lizzy

Thank you Jarkko for the platform you created that honors LC. If not for your steadfast dedication, Leonard never would have had the opportunity to connect on a personal level with his fans that have gathered at your site.

And of course Thanks to Leonard for sharing his words and pictures with his internet fans. A gesture of generosity that means so much more than a simple 'read.'

bye,
Laurie

sounds like an introduction to the book.

the book is irrelevant now, and was ment to be discovered later, when there are no more flood, earthquakes and wars...

does this mean that Book Of Longing will not address contemporary world matters after all? the last few poems seemed to go a tiny little bit in that direction.

Jarkko,

I have to agree that you've done a terrific job in letting Leonard's 'fan's'
get a little closer to Leonard's life. It makes the site experience more 'personal'. If not for this site, Leonard's site may have wound up being nothing more than another 'official record company' site.

Jurica, we have the option to read or not to read the poems and tid-bits that are coming out now. Many might want to wait for the book, illustrations and all, others may enjoy 'previews'. At least we have the choice. I don't think the book is now 'irrelevant' at all. I think most of us are waiting, with much anticipation, for its release. There may be much more in the official release than we know. Anyway we choose to look at it, it's still Leonard's first book of poetry in many years. I think we have to trust that he is releasing the book in the manner he wishes to. It will be on my bookshelf, no matter how much might be released before hand. I can't help but think that there will still be 'surprises'.

Linda.

ooops... a misunderstanding occured. the lines about 'irrelevance' of the book are from the poem itself. i figured it was Leonard's modest way of saying: it will not address matters that are discussed a great deal right now.

i'm a LC fan. big one. how could i even THINK the book is irrelevant, let alone publicly proclaim it.

I think it will be very WITH our times. I liked the last few poems, and I think Leomnard is - as usual - catching the spirit of his time virtually beeing out of it, in his isolation.

Oh, I know you are, Jurica! I guess the 'misunderstanding' came about, as I chose not to read the link. I'm waiting for the book, where I can see most of its contents for the first time. Sooooo, I went to the main site, and read the page. Now, I see where the 'irrelevant' quote came from.

No matter. There will be a lot more to see, I'm sure. I'm so sure, I'm positive!

cough, little book, and come,
and make me hear more of your
crystalline perfection
and loving challenge...

thanks to Leonard for the preview,
and to Jarkko for his never ceasing energy
and to both for everything

cheers

Do we all presume that "Go Little Book" refers to the longest gestation of a poetry collection in Leonard Cohen's writing life?
On first reading I thought "no", but on reflection, and having read the previous messages, I'm not so sure.
I am reminded of some (unpublished) lines I wrote about L.C. several years ago..

"just when you feel it's safe
to go out of the door,
along comes another poem."

"Nothing stinks like a pile of unpublished writing." - Sylvia Plath
I didn't say it, now, Leonard ~ Sylvia did  !

I suspect you can relate to this quote, as well, eh, Andrew :D ?
