Just a Leonard Cohen quote

Post by remarkblz »

This quote accidently fell into my lap today and it made my day:

' As you get older, you get less willing to buy the latest version of reality'

Leonard Cohen, Musician Magazine, 1988
We are going to face infinity, whether we like it or not. Why do it when we are weak, broken, at the moment of dying. Why not when we are strong. Why not now? C.Castaneda

A wonderful quote, I nearly run my life on a line from one of his songs -
There is a crack in everything, that's where the light gets in
So true.

I do love this quote by LC. I have to admit, however, that I do buy the latest version of reality. It's what is. :)

yeah he's got so beautiful ways how to accept our ambiguities

I love his contradictions therefore

Such as

Your letter they all say you're with me now,
so why do I feel so alone?
Of course I´m pathetic, I´ve spent my life getting the most impressive stuff out of the most impressive books. Malcolm Bradbury

For the sake of presenting the other side of the coin, if it's the latest version of reality, it must not be a standard to live by, right? I mean, who really wants to change their lives by the status quo's version of reality? Don't think I'll buy.

and from another perspective, Leonard has said "as you get older, you start to realize the reality that you are not entirely in charge"

That line really is one of the most inspiring and cheering lines of Leonard's. And also part of a great song too!
