I'd LOVE to see LC at the Lykabettos (is that the right way to spell it?). Saw an ancient Greek tragedy of some sort there years ago, it is a very magical venue.

But I can't stay longer than a day or two after (friend's wedding 2 August in UK) tho could maybe do a week before on Hydra. I know Hydra really well, I used to live there. I will post on the Tour 2008 thread about that in reply to hydriot.

Anybody any idea how to get tickets for Athens concert??

Have a taste of how Kamini is going to look like this evening (it is Good Friday for Orthodox):

Happy Easter Sophia.

What beautiful pictures, wish I could be there. Is that a funeral procession going into the water?

Sophia, what magical photos, which bring back happy memories of times spent at Kamini (though not quite as spectacular as that). :D

If you celebrate it, I hope you enjoy your orthodox Easter! I'm assuming you didn't go to Hydra for this event last night, but have you been there before for it?

Cheers :)

Thank you both!
Yes BM, it's the immersion of Christ's Epitaph into the sea in order to bless the water and seamen.
Easter (as you probably know both "down under"!)is the most significant religion holiday for Greeks and is celebrated with enthusiasm and various customs all over Greece. Andrew, I haven't been there before during Easter (I usually travel to Crete or Pelio these days), perhaps next year!:-)

Sophia, thank you for that delightful Youtube clip - looks like I now have to go to Hydra, not only in the summer, but also for your orthodox Easter as well (so I can experience this amazing spectacle)! ;-)

Cheers :)

This is interesting. Why is Easter the most important celebration there, I wonder? (here Christmas is much bigger, but then we were religion-less for a long time).
Have a happy Easter, Sophia!
(and do I get a "happy Easter" and a "happy birthday" too?!)

On another line of thought... I guess a Hydra meeting is off for this year?

And another line of thought again... how do you call Easter in Greek?

Laura,

I think it is called "Kalo Paska".

So, Kalo paska to all Greek people and happy Easter to you, Laura.
