Dharma, do check out California Bloodlines, a near perfect album and John Stewart's very best work (with the possible exception of the song "Daydream Believer" which was one of John's compositions).I was sorry to read of John's recent death. Joe, interesting to see the Phil Ochs track . PO...

Re: Guardian/Manchester Thursday gig...
Having tried usuccessfully to get MOH tickets three weeks ago I considered my chances of getting them today would be fairly slim. But happily I managed to get two tickets in the stalls. Last time the (unpleasant) surprise was the code that was required which I did not have. This time, I was armed wit...

For wealthy or dedicated LC fans, Hospitality Package tickets for the O2 are available again on Ticketmaster today (3rd April).
Ticketmaster also shows other LC tickets available for the O2. But these are only premium rate tickets via Ticket Exchange.

Re: Manchester? Did anyone get tickets? Did any ever exist?
Booking Dublin at 9 a.m. was straightforward so it was reasonable to expect Manchester at 10 a.m would be the same. I think plenty of people were defeated by the code that was requested which is a shame.

Re: Artists similar to Leonard Cohen
Too stressed out to listen to Leonard in the run up to the great ticket sale I was listening to Lee Hazlewood's final CD "Cake and Death" last night. Struck by how similar Lee's voice sounded to Leonard's.

Lee Hazlewood and a mystery song attributed to Leonard
I have a CD by Lee Hazlewood called “Love and other Crimes” which contains a lovely song entitled “Your Sweet Love” which is attributed to Leonard. The song is not in Jarkko's wonderful, prodigious list of covers. The lyrics are as follows: Strangers’ arms reach out to me ‘Cos they know what’s so lo...

Re: Artists similar to Leonard Cohen
The artist I consider to sound most like Leonard Cohen is Simon Joyner. I have a couple of his CDs "Hotel Lives" and the Lousy Dance" and they both sound spookily like early LC. The albums are downbeat and sparsely arranged. Was he influenced by LC or is it just coincidence? Well he's...

Re: Duende - Songs of Longing
Hi Diane Thanks for your kind welcome to the LCF and for the reply. But five emotions is too few! Okay, here’s a starter list of those kind of songs: Leonard Cohen “A Thousand Kisses Deep” Tim Buckley “Song to the Siren” Janis Joplin “Summertime” Antony “Hope there’s someone” Nick Cave “Are you the ...
