Re: Uncanny Din: A Rant
Somhow, Youtube tells me I cannot watch the video because it contains music licensed by Sony, and that apparently is not anything Germans are entitled to watch... :? Shame! However, I have got something to contributre as well, as there is a very good misheard lyrics version of Orff's "Oh Fortun...

Re: Hotels for Krakow 2010?
Be careful about the "discounted rates", though! A few of us booked at the "Ester", they have replied all right - but their "special rates" for Lc meeting participants would have been much more expensive than what came up on some "external" booking sites like ...

Re: The Dark Side of the Moon ... a bit of fun!
Laura, I also think Greg has been asking for compliments (as you know, the one thing he is not is English, so I don't think he would really do understatement as such!), so he will definitely have to take them now: I second every word Mutti has said there; and if meeting Greg has been one of the &quo...

Re: The Dark Side of the Moon ... a bit of fun!
Carmen, yes, lovely to hear from you, and thanks for the kind offer of showing us around a little! I would love to be made familiar with your favourite places... By the way, if you mean which hotel we are going to stay at in Bucharest, no, we don't know yet, really... But I think something can, and ...

Re: Big article in the Süddeutsche Zeitung of today
Allan Showalter aka "Heck Of A Guy" contacted me yesterday for a larger-size scan of the photograph. He has now put it up on his great web site. Here is the email I received by him, with the relevant link: "Ann - I posted the photo at Leonard Cohen 1979 – Eye Candy Or Fashion Victim?<...

Re: Big article in the Süddeutsche Zeitung of today
Well, as several people requested this, a close-up scan of the photograph (as good as it gets); again, larger format available - pm will be fine if you want it.

Re: Big article in the Süddeutsche Zeitung of today
Here is the article about "The Favourite Game". I would have scanned it, but the format of the newspaper is too big for that... If anyone is interested in a bigger-size file of the article, just pm me, and I will send it to you.

Dear Laura, I understand how you are feeling, but really, there is always hope - I would not have believed that mysef a very short while ago, but still, it is true! Until you hopefully come to see this again for yourelf, too, there is a wonderful story you might want to read by German writer Wolfgan...

Re: Leonard, don't do France
I just heard an interview with a young South African on the German radio. As you may know, South Africa will have to play in the same group as France for the first round of the World Cup. When asked whether he thought that South Africa has got a chance against France, the guy said: "By all mean...

Re: Misheard Lyrics
I thought for the first few times that I heard "On That day" that Leonard was actually singing "I'm just holding the fork" instead of "fort" - it would have rhymed with "New York", after all, but not with "court", obviously... And I even gave the pos...

Re: Leonard, don't do France
Rob, I am not Irish, so it is obvious that it is not true that me and my "ilk wouldn't have been all that upset if the same thing had happened the other way round" - I would! However, I don't like blunt injustice, admittedly least of all if the "major" football nations are favour...

Some of the pictures look as if they had been taken in Jerusalem, though... Or am I mistaken there?! Anyway, thanks, brightnow, for pointing them out!
