Re: Sadly, Judith Fitzgerald Has Passed Away

RIP, Judith. Like many others, our friendship went back to the old news group. Doron, thank you for sharing her excellent poem. Joe Hey Joe, don't be a stranger. This is sad news. Judith was indeed one of the superstars of the old newsgroup. Her personality was a whirlwind, and it was the reader's ...

Re: My Heart and Prayers are with Paris & with the Forum People Who are Safe!!!

Very glad to hear Henning (dear Henning!) and all are safe. Is the Marie listed--Marie Mazur? I don't know most of the names, but all Cohen-heads are especially in my thoughts during these frightening days. Big hugs, tears of joy for friends, tears of sadness for the dead. I don't do Facebook but ha...

Re: president obama likes 'suzanne'

Yeah, Obama jumped up and started singing Amazing Grace while the cameras were rolling, too.
He only did that because the people in that church--where their family members were shot--forgave the killer and refused to let themselves be used in Obama's race baiting agenda.

Re: Leonard on Rolling Stone's List of Greatest Songwriters

Not great musically? Uh, try listening. On some decent sound equipment. If all yer hearing id Leonard's whiskey-and-cigarette voice straining out the words like an 80 year old trying to push out a 2 week long bout of constipation, well, you're missing a lot, my friend. I suggest you start with Dance...

That sounds like something I'd really enjoy! Wish I was close enough to attend. Any chance you'll record a slice or two and upload to youtube?

Re: Sing Me Back Home - Suzy Bogguss with Garrison Keillor

Marianne Faithfull did a cover of Sing Me Back Home on her album Easy Come, Easy Go. Keith Richards played and sang on it. There's a youtube version which Marianne dedicates to Amy Winehouse.

Re: Need to get permission to use Leonard's poems as song ly

In your post, you say **a** poem of Leonard's has been set to music and recorded already; in your thread title, you reference **poems** plural. Either way, sounds like you're planning to distribute and sell your recording(s) which would be a definite no-no without a contractual agreement with Leonar...

Re: B.B. King

I doubt you'll find it, or anything like it, online, Kush. This was a bunch of locals sitting around jamming. Seemed like they'd even blown their own minds when they were done. If I can get them to do it again, I'll record and upload it.

Re: B.B. King

Saw him live in St. Louis in 1972 (!!) when I lived near Gaslight Square. One of my neighbors was Cynthia Plastercaster. Where I live now is rural; on Monday nights I go to a coffeehouse where a bunch of folks do a jam session. Last night one of the guitarists started a BLUEGRASS version of The Thri...
