Re: leonard's faithless wife poem immortalised at cobb galle
It's interesting that they didn't use the original Lorca poem as their starting point. Leonard Cohen's version is really a special translation of this poem.

Re: Random LC moment I am adoring today
Having one of those days on Saturday (the kind you have to get through , won't go into details, any parent will know about it already) when I hear something I instantly recognise on ABC Radio National in the car, never heard it before but instantly LOVE it - The Cohen Variations by Simone Dinnerstei...

Re: Concert review: Forest Hills, New York 25 July 1970
It was Live Songs. It wasn't a suicide note. The writer, a poet and artist, did committ suicide, she suffered from a mental illness, it was not because of Cohen. I believe he included her writing in the liner notes as a sign of respect. Lots of people just didn't understand Cohen in the early days, ...

Re: Auckland Meet-Up
So sorry we missed you Graham! We hung around outside the Crown for a short while (they wouldn't serve us drinks outside) and then went to find somewhere quieter. Let's all hope there's a next time ;-) . Had a wonderful time and hate to fly home today but my ordinary life awaits me. Also wish all of...

Not worse Murray, just acted upon when I think I was still under the influence of a post-Hill high. I knew everyone here would understand, my family not so much.Junk wrote:Your withdrawal symptoms must have been even worse than mine.

Hi All,
We will be in Auckland for the concert too (all very last minute and exciting!) so if a table is being booked at the Crown please add two more.
See you soon,
Tracey and Jim

Re: Newtown Rev. quotes Leonard on Newtown shooting annivers
It's interesting how ubiquitous this quote is becoming. It's like 'Hallelujah' in that it seems it can be applied to every occasion. It's also interesting how words, no matter how special they are, can be worn out by overuse. However, the saddest thing about remembering Newtown is that nothing has h...

‘You can add up the parts but you won’t have the sum…’ After a week of fairly ordinary weather and uncertain long range forecasts, Saturday brought a blue and almost cloudless summer sky with a slight breeze to keep things cool, a perfect day. Leonard Cohen was coming to my hometown, to our local w...
