Re: Theology of Leonard Cohen

You're right Peter, got the song wrong. Thanks for correcting that. 'Samson and New Orleans' is a dark song that makes reference to another old testament/Hebrew bible story of Samson bringing down the temple and killing more Philistines in his death than he ever did in his life. I'm not sure who the...

Re: Leonard discusses Hallelujah and his new album in London

He's working hard to promote this album, oh these lucky people. Here's hoping it pays off with chart listings, he deserves it.

Re: Popular Problems cd

I have my special memory of ordering 'new skin' from my local import record store because they censored the cover for Aussie release. However that store is long long gone. Although I too feel your nostalgia Joe and love the image of you waiting to savor this latest offering, I don't have your patien...

Re: Theology of Leonard Cohen

Not sure where you get that idea from. I knew the Old Testament well as a child, the first book I was ever given was the children's bible and the old testament had the best stories. This song references the book of Exodus, that tells the story of Moses leading the people of Israel out of slavery in ...

Re: Popular Problems - Album Reviews

A very teasing review, Junk, is it country, is it lounge, is it gospel, is it traditional, vampy, rythmic, that man needs to make a decision! I have no idea where you live Tchocolatl (Canada?, France?, just wild guesses) but when you live where I do (the other side of the world) it all feels too muc...

Re: Popular Problems - Album Reviews

The advance reviews sound good, production, horns, violin, bluesy, new songs, all sounds very promising.
Have mine preordered on iTunes as I just can't wait any longer than I have to.

I think he may be teasing us with the tour hints....

"I'll have another shot or two at it when I go on the road – if I go on the road," he said. "The road is beckoning. I know if I run that song down in concert two-or-three-hundred times, I'm going to get it." :D :D :D two or three hundred times you say? Wish I'd been there...sigh...

Re: A good title bears recycling

Thank you for spotting this David.

It seems that Nikiforuk takes his title from Buckminster Fuller and Leonard Cohen (maybe). I have heard of Buckminster Fuller but knew nothing of his philosophy/theory on energy. I will look again at my dog eared copy of Cohen's poems with a new perspective.

Re: The PP album cover

The common shadow outline from Old Ideas is interesting, otherwise it's a very minimalist cover: artist and title in clear black print on white, a serious picture of the artist looking purposeful, some patches of primary colour to catch the eye, some black and grey to balance it out. I wouldn't read...

Re: Listen to new Leonard Cohen song

Interesting, Charlean Carmon, best known on google for voicing Katy Kat on All Stars Battle Royale.
On the very long flight home I watched '20 feet from stardom' and it has given me a new appreciation for back up singers, Lisa Fischer in particular.

Feeling a bit down on my return from Dublin summer to Melbourne winter and LC provides a gift to lift me. Downloaded the song from iTunes for less than the price of a ... Re: Thank you Dublin!

Please add our thanks to the Irish team. We had a wonderful time in Ireland, making our way to Dublin via Galway, Ennis, Killarny, Cork and Kilkenny experiencing beautiful scenery, tasty food and music everywhere.
