Re: A Short History of Buying Leonard Cohen Tickets

My history of buying LC tickets is very short, and is nothing compared with John's 11 concerts. Two recent concerts is all I could attend during all those years since 1969 or so. And if it hadn't been for on-line booking I would probably not even have had that luck.

Re: I thought I was alone!

IHave I just been unlucky in not coming across like minded people in everyday life or has anyone else found the same as me? In the early seventies I had a few friends who also were fans. In later years a friend or colleague would comment that they liked "Suzanne" or so but I have never co...

Re: Dance Me to the End of Love - interpretations ?

If that is the interpretation that paddieu was referring to I understand why he/she finds it so startling. I never thought of it.

Re: Which is your favorite Leonard Cohen period?

I like cdb's categories. I definitively prefer the Early Period.

Re: Songs of Love and Hate - should it have a warning?

I always preferred the first three albums, especially # 1 and 3) above all that followed. I am slightly re-appraising that now after attending concerts of his current tour, but once that overwhelming feeling has gone I am sure I will return to his earliest work, that for me represent the essential L...

Re: Reappraised LC songs in light of the current tour

Hi UrPal, I had a good laugh about your pre-punksters remark. You're right of course. I am one my self and I do like well-sung melodious songs (even my favourite hard rock band of my younger years is no longer considered hard rock but rather a melodious rock band  ). I agree with your preferenc...

Re: Reappraised LC songs in light of the current tour

Ziyan, I had the same experience with Anthem, and found it a highlight of the show (which, Movan, I saw twice within 48 hours, a record for me but then I never saw Leonard perform and I didn't want to miss the chance to get to see him twice). I see UrPal's point about the Sublime Twins sing a favour...

Re: Random LC moment I am adoring today

And in a few years that young couple may log onto the Forum and post a response to the thread about "How did you get into LC's music". That is how classics are made. Keep it up. At the moment I am listening to Closing time, but unfortunately no neighbours to ask when that time will finally...

Re: If It Be Your Will - Webb Sisters

I was at two recent concerts, and at both occasions the audience went totally silent when the Webb sisters sang "If it be your will". Normally I don't like it when a favourite song is sung by anyone else but the Artist Himself, but I make a huge exception for this one. As I said on the Tou...

Re: Amsterdam, Westerpark, July 12

I had the chance to be at the Brugge and Amsterdam performances, my first ever Leonard Cohen concerts. Both fantastic, unforgettable experiences, even though at each concert my standing place was not very close to the Master. Later, at home, I listened to some of the songs on CD and it was obvious t...

Re: "Songs of Leonard Cohen" - on vinyl

I think that CDs sound much better than LPs. I also think that people of my generation have wamer feelings for LPs because they remind them of their youth, which is supposed to be a better place (although I myself am much happier now than when I was 16...). The only nostalgic associations I have wit...

Re: Someone gave me wishes, and I wished for... ?

I would like to ask him to describe in one sentence his ultimate view of life. Like something I read somewhere the other day and that reflects mine: "All I wish for is a life in which, when my time has finally come, I can honestly say that I have no regrets".

If it be your will. I can't really explain why, but I am sure you will know.
