Re: LC: The Great Lyricist - free book in The Guardian 28th June

Er.. hello, all of you! i know I am a bit late, but - has anyone a spare copy of that Guardian book by any chance? Anyone? PLEASE? That would be so kind, I would be forever grateful; I have only just read about the booklet, so I hope I am not too late! Let me know how much you would want to charge, ...

Re: amsterdam westergasfabriek 12 juli

Reindeer, thanks for your story. I was really moved... I am 32 and I cannot even say what exactly started my Leonard-Cohen-enthusiasm, but I think listening to his songs (in rather low quality on an old cassette recorder) in a summery Oxford college garden with a boy whom I hugely admired 9 years ag...

Dear Mike, I was in Amsterdam too, but I didn't see your poster... it is mentioned all the time here, so I am getting really curious: What exactly was on it? :?: Enlighten me, please...
Thanks!!

Re: Flowers for Leonard?

Lucky indeed! i envy you, Maurice; I am in one of the blocks behind yours, still "Innenraum", though! I'll try sneak out there towards the end and bring my gift (whatever it will be) to the stage! You are in a perfect place for giving one, too, I suppose... ;-)

Re: Flowers for Leonard?

Yes, I saw that animal! What was it? Anything like a Dutch celebrity?
When I get to the Oberhausen event, I'll certainly bring him a rose; I have doubts about the chocolates though! I might easily end up eating them myself before the encores in raptures with Leonard's music during the concert ... :D

Re: All the JOKES (and nothing else!)

Well, you guys make it sound like a real sacrilege to write about the "jokes" and as if the people who are actually impudent enough to do so spoil the fun for anyone else who ist still going to attend the concerts... Calm down I would say! If ANYONE can think for themselves, it should be L...

Re: amsterdam westergasfabriek 12 juli

Glad to read all your happy comments on the concert, friends; I am only now coming to terms with the fact that I have really seen Leonard Cohen on stage, after I thought last year that I would do anything for that privilege; and now it has actually happened, and most likely will again soon in Oberha...

Re: All the JOKES (and nothing else!)

Sometimes just his very dry remarks - for example his answer to the overwhelmingly enthusiastic reactions from the Amsterdam audience to his - admittedly rather basic - keyboard skills: "You are very kind", with a wry smile. Also later, while the Webb sisters, two of his background singers...

Someone gave me wishes, and I wished for... ?

Well, as a - relatively new - member of this forum, I would wish for a meeting with Leonard, of course! But would this simply be an all-time dream come true, or would my troubles just start there? I mean, perhaps I should rather ask the fairy (or whatever it would be) for something clever to say and...

Re: Favourite humourous LC lyrics

Hi Lizzy, yes, you are right - perhaps I should have called myself "Womanfromaroombutnotmarianne"; but that might have taken things a bit too far... :? You are right: The songs are all full of humorous lines that at the same time are really charged with meaning; and these wonderful dialect...
