Two+ lines from The Favorite Game: Can anyone else identify?
(From Ch. 7, The Favorite Game ) Lawrence just said to himself: "There must be something written on the fiery water. An affidavit from God. A detailed destiny chart. The address of his perfect wife. A message choosing him for glory or martyrdom." I'm 48 years living...I'm like this still.....

Re: rags of light
Very good! Why is the "understanding" each other the most satisfying experience??? This exchange has been no exception. The hate that I speak of, that I spoke of is the indifference, the lack of engagement (emotionally, spiritually, physically), and most specifically to me it is the comple...

Re: Which two songs does LC sing over and over?
... we have enough believed horrible lies as it is. I also have a terrible fear of falling and it seems I am always falling in one way or another and so I take this falling business pretty seriously. Peeling, on the other hand has fun written all over it. It conjures up waves peeling for our surfbo...

Re: poem: When the clocks stopped ticking
I suggest you rethink your line "I watched you grow in stature," it gives me a false impression. He only grew in size and power, didn't he? Maybe it would work better with "I watched you grow in size,as you diminished in stature" or "I watched you grow in size,as you shrank...

poem: When the clocks stopped ticking
The time that you came home--my refuge, our house when the clocks stopped ticking for three and a half hours as you--your eyes cutting my existence to oblivion watched me shrivel into a corpse-- no vanity, no words I watched you grow in stature, the Victor, the cruel Gatekeeper who dangles the keys ...

Re: Which two songs does LC sing over and over?
It is not possible to fall out of love and I for one will try never to use that expression. What might happen is that we peel out of one orbit to fall into another. kind of like a banana, once in a salad, once in a mouth, but taking its turns. Jack, with all true, true respect, because I like your ...

Re: rags of light
In response to Jack's quote above: Reminds me of Leonard's "even in your arms I know I'll never get it right" "manifesto of my soul you make love to me from that tower." (charlajoy) From "The Unclean Start" in Stranger Music (not that I have to be right, but for the pau...

Re: rags of light
Responding to Jack: She [Bernadette] saw the Queen of Heaven once And kept the vision in her soul No one believed what she had seen No one believed what she heard That there were sorrows to be healed And mercy, mercy in this world "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see G-d" Mat...

Re: Which two songs does LC sing over and over?
i guess he mostly sings of love and death....and interconnects them .... some critics keep finding prooves all the medieval troubadours subconsciuosly desired death when indulging in unrequitted love Maybe falling in love is like receiving new life and falling out of love is like drinking of death....

Re: Which two songs does LC sing over and over?
I'm thinking that Leonard's longing for love from women is inherently tied to his spiritual longing for G-d. I think that men and women in their best state are first of all perfect spirit beings, and that in our quest for that man or woman, in Leonard's case--woman, we are subconsciously longing for...

Re: rags of light
Jack, Oh, it's up to you; I make no qualifiers, except that you had implied all/most are sweet mysteries. It was a question I had, if you want to answer, that stemmed from my wondering whether your appreciation of the mystery is due to your viewing the mystery from afar or whether your claim of its ...

Re: rags of light
Jack,
You are quite right on the quote, thanks!
Lazariuk typed, "You are all such a sweet mystery."
Yes...
mysteries,
in our rags of light
all dressed to kill
And... sweet mystery? do you speak as a man who's been connected to the mystery?

Re: rags of light
Jack, The one thing going on for me on this particular track is to be understood! I'm trying. Anyway, no need to obtain that because I do believe it, and it certainly sounds like Leonard to say something like that. If you're on the brilliant side, and you very well are, then maybe you are saying to ...

Re: rags of light
To Lazariuk, This is what "There is a War" means to me: There is a war between the rich and poor, a war between the man and the woman. There is a war between the ones who say there is a war and the ones who say there isn't. (there will always be differences, conflict...) Why don't you come...

Re: rags of light
When Leonard says that there is a war between the woman and the man it doesn't necessarily imply that they need to be fighting it.[quote/] Dear Lazariuk, I didn't mean war of that sort. I thought I had clarified that war meant "engagement" to me. The engaging part is the necessary compone...
