Re: Sound Check

He did not do a sound check at the Big Chill in August. My guess (and it is only a guess) is that this is the exception and that, generally, he does a sound check.

Re: Bucharest, September 21

Dear Laura (and others) Thank you so much for your various posts about what must have been a quite wonderful concert. I must say it is very good once again to be reading on this forum posts that concern Leonard Cohen (rather than, say, the unpleasantness of US politics, which seems inexplicably to h...

Re: Glasgow Meet Up

Oran Mor? (Corner of Byers Rd and Gt Western Rd, in West End.) It's big, has one of Glasgow's finest selection of fine malts, and IS OPEN LATE. Oh, and there's some seriously impressive artwork by Alasdair Gray all over the place. The one down side is that it is not especially near the Armadillo (co...

Re: Your must for the Tour Set List

One that I guess has very little chance of making the setlist: Chelsea Hotel One that might make it, if not every night: Famous Blue Raincoat One that has not so far appeared, but for which I hold out high hopes: Alexandra Leaving All of these have been previously cited, if not on this thread then o...

Re: What is the most appropriate present to give Leonard?

We've given it to him, and at several of these recent shows he has thanked us.

Our present is to keep these songs alive all these years.

It's nothing in comparison with what he has given us, maybe, but it's every writer's dream.

Re: Big Chill (Aug 3)

The answers to my questions at the top of this topic, in case anyone is wondering, are no no no. No Martha Wainwright did not sing The Traitor; no Beth Orton did not sing Sisters of Mercy and as you all know Leonard did not sing Famous Blue Raincoat at the Big Chill. Nonetheless, it was an immense w...

Re: Glasgow 5/11 anyone got tickets delivered yet?

Booked mine through the SECC and they came on Monday. I have no idea how these things work, but if SECC were sending tickets out only over the w/end, perhaps t/master will forward them in the next few days??

It's still a good few weeks til the show, so I wouldna be panicking just yet...

CONCERT REPORT: Big Chill (August 3)

Alright, so this is the end of the road for a few short weeks. Let's make it a good one. Weather forecast is mixed, so there may be some mud. But, Leonard, if you or the band are reading this, please don't feel you have to cut the gig short no matter how horrible the famous British summer weather ge...

Re: What song would you want to be added to the set list?

It is curious that two of his best albums (Songs of Love and Hate and Recent Songs) and his two worst albums (Death of a Ladies' Man and Dear Heather) are the least well represented in the tour. I would love to hear more from either Love and Hate or Recent Songs. Anything, really, but I guess The Gu...

Re: SPECIAL TICKETS FOR MEMBERS TO SEVERAL UK SHOWS

Yeah, came too late for me too. But it don't hurt to acknowledge that it's a nice thing to do ... Could the promoters and managers do more? Of course. Could they do better? You bet. Could we for once stop moaning and say thanks. Seems to me we could. :?

Re: Glasgow - where to stay?

Another option - relatively cheap I think - is a hotel less than 400 yards from the Clyde Auditorium, called City Inn. It's right on the River. Can't vouch for its quality, but it's a good location. Well, it's a good location for the venue. There's no decent pub nearby, but then there's no decent pu...

Re: Reappraised LC songs in light of the current tour

Hi Zayad Interesting post. Anthem has always been right up there for me, and I'm glad you've seen that it's such a powerful song. I read somewhere that it was more than a decade in the making, and that earlier versions were recorded for Various Positions and I'm Your Man, only to be canned because s...

Re: Glasgow - where to stay?

There are lots of cheap places to stay in Glasgow. There is an Ibis and a Novotel, as well as Travelodge and Premier Inn and Holiday Inn Express, etc. There are also (for a British city) quite a few B&Bs in the West End and between the West End and the City Centre. Try Garnethill, or areas along...
