Re: A part of history for sale (Bird on a Wire)

if ever i go, I have instructed my children to sell everything and use the proceeds to bring up my future grandchildren. I haven't spent a small fortune on memorabilia so that it can be kept in a vault in Toronto.
I will speak to Steve and Tony next week and discuss what their wishes are.

Re: A part of history for sale (Bird on a Wire)

Marie, I think you should study the history of these reels first. Sony have already tried to buy them at a high price but were turned down. That's why they tried to take legal action against Tony Palmer/ Steve Machat. You will notice that Sony have now gone quiet on this, because these reels rightly...

Re: A part of history for sale (Bird on a Wire)

"I still feel uncomfortable about how Leonard would feel regardless of the fact he gave them to Tony". Hi Musicmania, Thanks for your comments. If Leonard was happy about this, would you be happy for these reels to be sold off, individually? On another note, and this is to everyone, if you...

Re: A part of history for sale (Bird on a Wire)

Hi Christianne and Ann, A couple of questions for you. 1. If these reels were put in the archives, would they be available for fans to view, in their entirety? Have you ever been to see these archives, as you seem to think that it is the rightful place for these reels to be kept. If you give me the ...

Re: A part of history for sale (Bird on a Wire)

You might wish to remember that these reels were originally kept together by someone we all know, for the last 40 years......and he pretended to all that he didn't know where they were. Surely, you don't want that to happen again. A fellow fan has just emailed me the following. You might be interest...

Re: A part of history for sale (Bird on a Wire)

Sue, If you knew Steve Machat, you would know that he isn't interested in money. He is currently involved in writing a new book about different aspects of religion, and is a very spiritual person himself (he may have been a rock and roller in his younger days). His father was the biggest lawyer in H...

Re: A part of history for sale (Bird on a Wire)

Steve and Tony could easily have sold these to a big organisation, and they have had plenty of offers. However, they want these to be sold to and enjoyed by the fans.

A part of history for sale (Bird on a Wire)

The original 281 reels of the film Bird On A Wire will shortly be going up for sale, to be sold as individual reels to Leonard's fans. 280 reels contain parts of the film and the last reel contains footage of Leonard as a child. Steve Machat and Tony Palmer have requested that these historically imp...

Re: Announcement of the Nov 27 concert in Phnom Penh

AEG have not done a good job. It is not just the cancellations but also the regular additions to the tour. People buy tickets for concerts in other countries, only to find a date to later be scheduled in their own country. Is it too difficult to list all the events of a tour and stick to it? No canc...

Re: Announcement of the Nov 27 concert in Phnom Penh

Wendy, thanks for your reply. I expected to be shot down as many people are unwilling to accept any form of criticism of Leonard and his management. Fans don't seem to appreciate that this is a business and the only thing that matters at the end of the day is the profit margin. Cancellations of 2 co...

Re: Announcement of the Nov 27 concert in Phnom Penh

Well, the only reason for the cancellations in Honolulu and Cambodia is poor management. They get plenty of praise when things are going smoothly; they should be big enough to hold their hands up when things go wrong. Logistical reasons are not an excuse. Surely, all this was thought out before they...
