Liz,
De rien!

Don't you just love the word "scrutiny" ?

Of course, I happen to love "screwy" as well.

I was not aware of the companion words though:
scrutable, scrutator, and scrutineer.

Keep on scrutinizing, Elizabeth!

The Hardest Thing

Byron, a master stroke! WOW! WOW! and an honorific BOW! This exceeds my greatest expectations... not that I'm surprised. Thank you for indulging an old woman. You are truly genius loci. I adore this version, and when you publish your Collected Poems, I hope you will include Doing Nothing (Version 2)...

Thanks for the clarification, Byron. It's just that I felt the violent impact in the unrhymed section as more immediate and personal... and the sense of resignation in the rhyme section more distant. Perhaps that was exactly what you intended. I would still love to see you rework the first sixteen v...

Hello Byron, I hear two poems happening. One ends at Verse 16 (if I counted correctly) with "to love". The second begins "So I wait ..." The formal rhyme scheme makes it read like a song to me. I think I was even humming Take This Waltz while I read it. I'm curious if you have an...

I believe you, Peter. A couple of nitpicking grammar/usage things: Line 4: The fears of night ARE or The FEAR of night is Line 11: fatness? How about 'excess' or 'surfeit' 'plethora' ? Line 12: That's Line 20: "the bells are chiming from ON high" ? Line 23: "the wind that's blowing wi...

Cover

Jarkko, I just sent you an e-mail about a cover of Hallelujah
by the traditional male a cappella group at Yale University,
The Whiffenpoofs! They've been going since 1909, tap (select)
14 new seniors to carry on the tradition each year.

They tour and put out a CD.

Tour

I must admit, mamalex, I had the same thought after seeing Bobby last month. (I do believe LC is older, though) I was astounded at the tour schedule Dylan was maintaining. But the decision will come from Our Man. One can only hope!

I can't tell you how much it warms my heart to imagine Leonard relaxing in a profusion of warm bubbles with a Red Needle close by! Thank you for this lovely picture, Mr. Ed. Good luck with your neightmare!

Thanks, Sue. Heh heh... ask away! I'll make something up! :) One of the things I love about getting feedback is someone pointing out something I had no idea was in the poem!

Andrew: We are here for you, love. Courage!

Peace

More Poetry Stuff

Thank you for your comment, Kathy! I am so much a believer in equal-opportunity poetry: there is enough variety that there should be something for everybody! Consequently, it's silly to critique work that doesn't resonate with you. (Unless that's what you're being paid to do.) And that's what...

Poetry as Personal

I hear you, on the gentility thing. Sometimes my attempts at humor miss the mark. :) I think, rather than 'good' or 'bad', a poem either suceeds or fails to move the reader. And that can only happen in the encounter of the 'person' and the poem. So what works for me may not work for you. But that's ...
