All errors and ommisions aside, I think that Jarkko and the rest of the Cohen Camp did a fantastic job in organising, arranging, fluffing and primping our lovely postcards. What are a few nicks when it is only WE that have the cards? Let's all pass them down to our children and our chldren's childre...

Just received my postcard in British Columbia - Western Canada. It is a terrific lovely, classy card - both sides were very well crafted - (my last name was spelled wrong - but then everyone spells my last name wrong - so much so that I'm beginning to think that it's really me spelling my name wrong...

I couldn't agree with you more Songbird. Leonard is the only 'celebrity' that well...never mind.

Thanks for your 'thesis' Lizzy! I'm sure you're right to a degree. However, on the other side of the coin, my husband listens to CBC (Canadian Broadcasting) Overnight which features music/art/politcal views from all over Europe. He pays special attention to the Scandanavian/Dutch part of the world b...

Having listened to the song again, and again, I like it more now than I did just reading the lyrics. At first, I didn't think that, lyrically speaking, it hit the mark, but as a Canadian perhaphs the topic is not quite as emotional as it would be for say, an American. I like the Jew's Harp, melody l...

I think it's great that Danish TV is doing specials on Leonard. I've spent a good deal of time in Denmark - being half Danish - and I must say a Leonard special or two would be great for Danish programming! I'm sure this question has been asked before, but what is it exactly about Northern Europe th...

Recieving the Postcard

Being almost on the shores of the Pacific in Western Canada - I'm betting I'm dead last on rec'v the card. That is just the way my life seems to work!
And I'll tell you, life is in not sweet when you're at the mercy (?) of the Canadian Postal service.

On That Day

This is my first listen of On That Day and I think it's very simplicity is perfect. Sharon and Anjani are always perfect in the background. As for the Jew's Harp...it works because it's been with Leonard since the very beginning. In his early, early recordings, I always listen for the Jew's Harp. It...

Tom Waits

I've been a Tom Waits fan all my sad and sorry life. I'm with you on the last CD thought (not my kind of thing).

I couldn't help but thinking, when listening to, On That Day, that Leonard's voice is sounding abit like old Tom. I've often thought that Leonard and Tom Waits had a few things in common

Leonard's replies

I've worked in the music business and believe it when I say that many, many performers would not be as well...gracious as Leonard certainly seems to be. I think it is thoughtful of him to acknowledge the obvious influence he has had on our emotions. I guess that is one facet of his personality and o...

Dear Leonard, Happily, for all concerned, I lost all nerve in my attempt to compose an original poem to celebrate your 70th birthday. I think these matters are best left to those gifted with the ability to touch someone's heart with a well placed word or to let someone cry by a deft turn of phrase. ...
