I think Willie Nelson's version is great, I love it but I think Johnny Cash really made it his. I'll bet there is an entire generation of country fans who think Cash wrote Bird...

As for Bono's Hallelujah, I don't know why they even included it on Tower of Song - it stinks.

I quietly keep track of everything. k.d. lang is Canadian and a lesbian. I thought, though, she only did Hallelujah on this CD. She does do two of Neil Young's songs.

Pete again: I used to work for the equivalent to PRS here in Canada-they might be able to shed light on it (Leonard's Performing Rights Org. in the UK is PRS)

I have added so many lines to this topic that I really should stop now. Leonard has written THOUSANDS of perfect lines. I would like to say though, that painkillersinaction[/u] is a user name that I can certainly relate to.

I don't listen to commercial radio all that much but I do get the impression that what is on radio is not the kind of thing that Leonard is all about. Yet every generation does have a number that explore the outer reaches of what we call 'pop' music. So, hopefully Dear Heather will find its way into...

Well, I do have to admit that Leonard's music is not known for being overly played. However, back then it was covered by Judy Collins I believe (whom I don't really care for) and then, of course, Suzanne was about the only song from that LP that got played at all. At the time there was a rule in eff...

The first time I heard Leonard was when my room-mate bought his first LP. For the younger folks that's Long Playing record. I was mildly impressed but still more into Rock&Roll. I bought Songs from a Room and haven't looked back. The only negative I can think of, is that "Suzanne" got sooo much air-...

On the topic of boxed sets, I've never been a fan of 'Best Ofs' as, especially in the case of Leonard, I have all the material on their previously released CD's or even vinyl. I like the idea of more live material however, I thought Field Commander Cohen was a terrifc addition to my collection. One ...

I've noticed that a lot of Leonard's lines refer to 'ice' or 'cold' 'storm'- as much as I would like to - I'm not going to get started on my favourite LC lines with those references!

I'm going to pare them down and get three in! But there are just so many more! I've seen your flag on the marble arch, but love is not a victory march, it's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah. -Hallelujah Let me see your beauty when the witnesses are gone. Let me feel you moving like they do in Bab...
