Re: Title song 'You Want It Darker' now on YouTube and Spotify etc
Does it really matter one bit if there was an edit or there were multiple takes of his vocal track? (not directed at you Judas but at the NPR article). Punching in vocals is a common practice in recording to begin with. And regardless, it takes not an iota away from the brilliance of this song or th...

Re: New Album announced: 'You Want It Darker'
Wow. A powerful, tastefully-produced, mysterious song. Loving the synagogue chorus and cantorial flourishes. Hineni. Hineni. Can't wait for the rest of this album to arrive.

"We had another song on the album, which was called 'Happens to the Heart,' which will be on the next album. It's a very good lyric, a very good tune, but we didn't nail it."

Re: FROM LEONARD: HAPPENS TO THE HEART
Blown away. Some monumental lines and images here. Every soul is like a minnow, every mind is like a shark.
I imagine I'm not the only one who heard Leonard's voice in his head reciting this poem as I was reading it.

Re: New Album announced: 'You Want It Darker'
A new album of Leonard Cohen songs. Finally some good news in the world!
(And judging by the title, this may just be the definitive chocolate concept album for which we have been waiting so long).

Re: "So long, Marianne. Leonard Cohen's final letter to his muse"
Is it possible that Leonard did give permission for his words to be shared with the world? After writing and talking about the relationship with Marianne in poems, interviews, and obviously songs, maybe his desire was for this coda to the relationship to be out in the world. I'm just saying it's a p...

------------------------------------ well, i think it's very nice that you are honest, even though these comments could be hurtful should mr cohen be made aware of them. he will understand you are 'being cruel to be kind' as they call it, i am sure. consideration to a person's feelings should never...

Bob Dylan: "Why me and not Leonard?"
Bob Dylan spoke in a 40-minute speech last night accepting the MusiCares Person of the Year award at the pre-Grammy ceremony. Here's a short one-minute clip where he says, " Critics says I can't sing. I croak. Why don't critics say that same thing about Tom Waits? Critics say my voice is shot. That ...

Re: John Bilezikjian
His oud playing added so much to Leonard Cohen's music. He brought both the shtetl and the desert into the soundscape of Leonard's songs. His playing was soulful, timeless, and virtuosic. Thank you for all of the beautiful music Mr. Bilezikjian.

Popular Problems - Second Impressions
So I think I've learned a lesson about reviewing music. Not that I'm a professional music critic in any capacity. But I do love music and I certainly do have my opinions. And I love Leonard Cohen's music, which has been a huge inspiration for me, on my own songwriting and on my life path as a whole....

Re: Pre release streaming in Europe...and worldwide
I'm finding the negative comments about the production and arrangements tiresome. Thankfully, LC has been joyfully indifferent to the idea of making facsimile renditions of songs that have been aired on stage. Thank God he's not one of those artists who "asks the fans what they want", which would b...
