Re: Behind The Song: Leonard Cohen, "Everybody Knows"
You would think that someone who was writing a "Behind the Song" piece for a magazine on songwriting would know the difference between an oud and a "flashy Spanish guitar."

Re: "Thanks for the dance" - the new album
Does anyone else hear a delicious dreamy Pink Floyd quality in "The Hills" when the song opens up at "And she will be born to someone like you..." ??

Re: "Thanks for the dance" - the new album
I was a little skeptical about how this would end up, building the arrangements after the fact around the vocals Leonard had left. But this album has some superb, moving moments. And some very interesting and creative production choices by Adam. (For example, loving the sound of the guitars and hand...

Re: Posthumous album
Whether this upcoming release ultimately would have turned out differently would Leonard have been here today in the studio is a very secondary consideration to my mind to the fact that we get to hear more of Leonard's voice and poetry. This release, perfect or imperfect, is a gift. We can only hope...

No one to follow and nothing to teach Except that the goal falls short of the reach Oops. Well I edited this whole post because I had misread the line as "the reach falling short of the goal." What happens when I try to put thoughts together the morning after a night out. I will have to put some ef...

When Javier Más comes with in, playing the arpeggiated guitar fingerstyle that Leonard used on his early albums, it's tremendous. How wonderful to hear Cohen's voice against those guitar strings again.

Re: Matters of Vital Interest: A Forty-Year Friendship with Leonard Cohen
However, as an aside, if anybody is interested in the history of science and cosmology, and its relation to religion, philosophy and politics, Eric Lerner also wrote a most fascinating book called The Big Bang Never Happened . I highly recommend that book to those who are open-minded and curious ab...

Re: Will there be posthumous disc?
I dream of more live albums from the Grand Tour. Were all the shows recorded? I dream of unreleased album outtakes with unheard Cohen lyrics. Songs that Cohen deemed too profound to release at the time. Songs that he considered too beautiful that they might shortcircuit ears, too moving, they might...

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/15/t-magazine/art/artists-final-last-works.html?mcubz=1 I just read the article you cited. And I believe you misread what the author is saying. He was differentiating Cohen's last work, which he wrote about earlier in the piece, from those works that are followed by a...

Re: Who will appear in the tribute concert?
When this was announced, I was excited for a moment that Bob Dylan might appear at a Leonard Cohen tribute concert. Alas, Dylan has a concert scheduled for that date as well.

Re: The Traitor
But one day the dreamer inside him wins him over and decides not to fake it anymore, and as a result, the relationship goes in a downward spiral and the people label him as the traitor of their relationship. I used to think that the "dreamers" were the protagonists of this song in their adversarial...
