Leonard Cohen, contender for Nobel Prize for Literature?

There was a piece on the UK Guardian's website, recently, about Bob Dylan's chances of receiving the Nobel prize for literature: http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2012/sep/19/bob-dylan-nobel-odds-rise-literature Dylan, I'm sure, is a worthy contender but I have often thought that Len would be a most e...

Re: Leonard biography, which one?

Hi Piero,

Sylvie Simmon's biography looks like it will be the one, on account of two factors:
impressively researched and it is most up-to-date (up to 2012).

Plus, all the reviews, as you say, have been excellent.

Enjoy :)

Re: Sylvie Simmon s thinks "Darkness" is about oral sex...

Ha, the artistic and literary merit of LC's work is assured for posterity. The magic of his oeuvre will never cease.
As the narrator of his seminal book, Beautiful Losers, avers:

"Magic never weakened. Magic never hid. Magic always ruled"

Re: Interview with Sylvie Simmons

What a beautiful interview. Thanks Jarkko, for sharing.

I particularly love Sylvie's summation:
A serious writer; a smiler; an artist who sees no borderline between music and words. And a deep man, very deep. Two sentences.

Re: Sylvie Simmon s thinks "Darkness" is about oral sex...

Ah, in the world of 50 Shades of Grey mass hysteria, it would appear that everything needs to be sexed up ;) Still, excellent publicity for forthcoming biography methinks. I have always thought that Leonard's songs are like onions; they have many layers and multiple meanings. That is the ineffable b...

Re: Lines that get you every time

Great question but as others have intimated, almost impossible to answer. A bit like asking a parent, if they have more than one child, who their favourite is. Could choose several stretching from the earliest to the present but will proffer a couple from the last two albums. The Faith (Dear Heather...

Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEONARD!

Many happy returns on your Birthday. When it seems that chaos and darkness are afoot in this perplexingly beautiful world, your exquisite music casts a calming ray of light. Thank you. Thank you too for making Wembley wondrous. Looking forward to the next time. May you and the band continue to spark...

Re: UPDATED: TOUR MERCHANDISE / EUROPE

Have to confess that I balked intitially when it came to buying the brochure. I thought perhaps I had misheard the price (!) but seeing as it is a unique memento, I quickly yielded to temptation. However, I do think that the cost for T-shirts etc was far too high. £20-25 in London, if memory serves....

Re: New Leonard Cohen biography by Sylvie Simmons (Fall 2012

Fantastic review.

Can't wait to read this book this autumn, perfect accompaniment
to a bowl of roasted chestnuts and a glass of St.Emilion perchance.

Maybe a full moon just to complete the scene.

Thank you, once again, Leonard and your brilliant brand. So slick. So sublime. So utterly life-enhancing. U...
