Re: The role of the fan

This thread is fun... hey Rodin, who would you rather worship, a 'naughty boy' or the Messiah??! Everybody Knows that part of Leonard's appeal for many people (ok, many women...) is that we'd like to ravish him or be ravished by him, immediately, on a Greek island if possible ... we want to BE Maria...

Re: Berlin Meetup with band members!

Paul, thanks for posting... So you guys met the band...??? Wow. Wa-haaay. Please tell all. What are they like? Dino, the Sublime Sisters, Roscoe, Sharon...? What did you talk about? Stories, please... as soon as you come back down to Earth... we can't wait. As I write, you're at the concert, with He...

Re: ROYAL ALBERT HALL SHOW ON SALE

There are many excellent images of RAH seating plan online - just Google "Royal Albert Hall seating plan" and you get a choice of good quality colour images of the seating. But more interesting are the descriptions of which seats are best, also easy to find on Google by typing 'reviews'. E.g. there'...

Re: Big Chill - Onstage Time and Set Duration

Re Sunday's Big Chill line up : the singer CAMILLE is really interesting, and she's playing just before Leonard... hooray. Have a listen: http://www.last.fm/music/Camille/+videos/+1-5M5TMN_gzLQ (I had a dream about LC last night, and woke up worrying, like a Jewish Mother, that he will exhaust himse...

Re: BIG CHILL FESTIVAL / BRIGHTON

Hi Jonesy Great, maybe we'll all meet up next weekend. I'll be with 3 friends who are Cohenites but not Files Folk (so only half as good... :D ) I couldn't find any other thread about the Big Chill, which is why I started this one... must have missed it, will look harder. Anyway, we arrive Sunday lu...

Re: Confirmed and tentative fall dates

Hi Henning
Yes, I was on Hydra, and enjoyed your singing... I agree about his smile (as posted on another thread, a propos the London concert). Maybe see you again in the Autumn...
I hope the exhaustion of the tour won't make Leonard ill at the end of it all. x

Re: London July 17

Re-reading my crazy post (posted in the middle of the night... should have curtailed it shouldn't I?), the letter to LC is full of references to his comments in between songs at the London concerts of '93, so probably impenetrable if you weren't there... sorry about that! I must stop posting, or try...

Re: Confirmed and tentative fall dates

Re overdoing it : Henning's right. Go to as many as you can... I reckon that if the concerts were poor, if we kept going back again and again just for the sake of it, because it's Leonard, while secretly not enjoying it, THAT would be overdoing it, and just plain stupid. We have the recordings, afte...

BIG CHILL FESTIVAL / BRIGHTON

Just wondering who's planning to go to the Big Chill, and whether anyone has planned a meet up? I'm going on Sunday, arriving at lunchtime. Would anyone like to meet and if so, do you know what it's like there? I'm also going to the NEC in B'ham, and to Brighton - the latter on my own, so it would b...

Re: London July 17

Wasn't that a miraculous concert?? In a neon nightmare of globalised logos, the perfection of poetry, musicianship and grace, yet again... clearly, Leonard can do anything. Anywhere. He can make a corporate vault full of 18,000 people seem like he and his musicians popped round to say hello, just to...

Re: Manchester, UK (June 17-20)

Dear all I was at Manchester on Friday (have already written about the Dublin concert last week), and I can honestly say, it was the best concert of my life. I went with Simon, my ex partner and best friend. In the interval we were commenting on how wonderful it was and I said, 'I admit the one thin...

Re: Dublin (June 13-15)

Just got back from Dublin, saw the concert on Sunday, in the wind and rain and wonder. I disagree with a previous poster - Leonard's voice is not 'as good as ever', it's BETTER than ever. How did he do that? What a concert. What a man. The humility, warmth, wit, wisdom and dignity of the most mesmer...

Re: Got tickets !!!

Stan, Don't worry, rambling's what it's all about. 'And here's to you / my rambling boy / may all your rambling / bring you joy...' (you know that song, of course? If not, have a listen online, it's Tom Paxton). If you haven't yet seen LC, you're in for a treat, as anyone on this board will tell you...

Re: Got tickets !!!

Thanks Stan. These message boards are so imprecise; we probably see eye to eye more than we think; it's just hard to express oneself clearly online. When I was growing up I had only one musical hero : Dylan. Then I discovered Cohen, I love listening to them both, and am grateful for their poetry and...

Dylan etc

RE: DYLAN Oh dear, I seem to have irritated Dylanophiles... didn't mean to, have always loved his music. I was referring to his concerts of the 1990s; I remember him going through the motions, his world tours seemed like joyless occasions, songs so different from recorded versions, maybe that was ju...
