There was large balcony etc. so pictures may mislead with regard to audience size. Stage quite dark on Sunday so pics taken with infrared camera (Sony Super Night Shot) coming soon as http://homepage.mac.com/evocative1/NYEvent/PhotoAlbum32.html "It is this that the darkness is for!" Cheers. - Kim

Poem suggestions for musical tribute for Cohen 70th b'day

The Composer in Residence for the Edmonton Symphony has indicated an interest in composing a tribute piece for Leonard Cohen's 70th birthday. He says: "I suggest writing some original songs using Cohen's words, in a jazz style. I think it would be wonderful to compose a 3 movement jazz suite. It cou...

2003 Leonard Cohen Nights September 20-21

Thanks, Andy! The event was a great success, attended by about 150 people. Very good vibes from it and a good basis for continuing events year after year with dissemination to other cities. Our emcee Bob Chelmick has enthusiastically agreed to emcee in 2004 as well and we are already heavily into pl...

Yes the iSight camera represents a considerable advance with its noise cancelling microphone etc. which allows one to communicate effectively without hearing your own voice coming back and without the burden of headphones etc. It is $149. I have also been very pleased with the private responses to m...

For someone already using a modern Mac computer and the latest operating system, Panther (OS 10.3), the only purchase is the iSight camera which is less than $200, so that would be the only expense.

Yes, I understand, but an AIM ID is free and easily obtained:

The other stuff represents a bit of a barrier, but I only need one person to start!

Video Conferencing for Leonard Cohen Fans

I have begun exploring desktop video conferencing using iChatAV http://www.apple.com/ichat/ and the iSight camera http://www.apple.com/isight/ on Mac G4 and G5 machines. Last night I had quite a successful video conference with a doctor in Christchurch, New Zealand from my G4 laptop in a hotel room ...

2003 Leonard Cohen Nights September 20-21

So far Edmonton, Calgary, Victoria, and Toronto are definite with many others tentative. We also are encouraging events in the US, Europe and elsewhere. If you are interested ...

Open Mic - Participation by Young People!

OK I think you know that the Open Mic portion of the evening was very highly successful, so much so that in 2003 it will be 2-3 hours. As I recall Andy Darbyshire performed in Open Mic but otherwise it was all wonderful local Canadian talent, and did not include me. We will eventually have the names...
