Re: Accommodations

It is a pleasant hour's walk between the two, and yes it would be safe for a group of people to walk that. Remember that Canada is a kinder, gentler nation! But another part of the reality is that cabs are not much more than the LRT in cost and staying downtown, both to party and to sleep, will be t...

Re: Accommodations

Yes quietly and without alcohol. The 24/7 hospitality room at the Westin downtown is more suitable for the kind of all night gathering you are describing.

Re: Accommodations

Sounds like good qualifications to me! We have an excellent security volunteer, Jeff Young, who runs his own security firm locally, very experienced. We will have our own security team under his direction which can interface with those at the Westin and Macdonald etc. So there is backup and the hosp...

Re: Accommodations

Yes we are already planning to use that Students' Union Building theatre, now called the Myer Horowitz Theatre, for some events. It is where we had our very successful Leonard Cohen NIght(s) this year. You can see images at: http://homepage.mac.com/evocative1/LCN2007/PhotoAlbum237.html All the best....

Re: Accommodations

There is the LRT light rail transit which goes almost directly from Lister Hall to the Westin and Winspear, maybe a block's walking each end. and takes about 5 minutes. Plus Leonard has significant history on the University campus and that is where the bus tour will go etc. so all in all not an unsa...

Re: Accommodations

Yes I would be happy to do that, Don. Those rooms would then be from $39 a night. They would have the characteristics of student dormitory housing with all the good and bad things you might associate with that! http://www.uofaweb.ualberta.ca/conferenceservices/nav01.cfm?nav01=23453 We are visiting D...

Re: Accommodations

Here are the details of the event-specific rates and procedures at the Westin Edmonton, the hotel at which registration and the round-the-clock hospitality suite will be. It is close to the Winspear Concert Hall, our main venue for the larger performances Friday and Saturday night. If reservations a...

Accommodations

The most convenient place to stay will be the Westin Edmonton which is where the registration and hospitality suite is and just across the street from the Winspear Concert Hall where the main events will be. The most exciting place to stay will be the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald where many of the artis...

Re: Hospitality Suite

Nurses have a lot of skill in assessment of well being, the whole person etc. I think that can be very useful at 4 AM when questions one never anticipated arise! Lol! Plus the Cohen fans I know who are nurses are really nice people. Bobbie Chalou is one example.

Re: Hospitality Suite

The position requires good judgement and cordial interaction with people. In the end we will be selective in who we choose. If you think about it you will see this job is crucial to the overall success of the event.

Re: Hospitality Suite

Dar's got the right idea! It is a combination of hosting and facilitating, making people feel comfortable, answering their questions, helping them arrange things, setup for Karaoke and helping with setup for the professionals performing in the space from time to time, food and beverage and cleanup c...
