Re: My version of "Famous Blue Raincoat"

Benny, Your covers are always welcome, and as my forum name suggests, FBR is my (and my wife's) favorite LC song, so this one is a real treat! I would be interested in hearing your version of FBR at a SLIGHTLY faster pace. Unlike many (most?) popular artists, Leonard is known for carefully enunciati...

Re: Would LC consider this?

But then, Leonard Cohen is an unusual writer/musician/performer. Do you mean unusual as in "ridiculous and inappropriate," or unusual in the sense that, "I've never heard of a performer doing something like this"? By limiting the attendees to six and leaving it to Leonard to set the rules and agenda...

Interesting review of Songs of Love & Hate

I came across this on youtube, apologies if already posted somewhere here. It is a recent review of the album Songs of Love and Hate from something called Velocities in Music. I think the two young reviewers (both not even born when the album came out) did a decent job considering they have had litt...

Re: Hidden Gems - Suggestions for a Tribute Show

How about "Storeroom," the bonus song that was included on the CD version of one of Leonard's early albums?

I am surprised that this song never receives much (any?) mention, the music is rather unique and captivating.

Good luck with your project!

Would LC consider this?

I post this with some trepidation, as I fear some will chastise me for making an unfair request of someone we all admire. Here goes anyway. In Las Vegas on December 10 Leonard made this very moving comment before "Anthem": "So many of you here have been to many concerts and have supported us on thre...

Re: Who (or what) introduced you to Leonard Cohen?

Shawomet, Your experience is almost identical to ours (if interested, see post of 8/23/10 under "hello, I'm new to the forum" thread). The only difference is, we were lucky enough to see the PBS fundraiser special a year earlier, at the end of 2009. As a result, were fortunate enough to see LC in La...

Re: Leonard and Roshi (Aug 2, 2011)

When I first viewed the picture as it appears on this thread (at least on my computer screen) I thought it was poignant, but thought LC looked a bit different. The second time I logged on I clicked on the actual website link and saw the whole picture. In case all are not aware, the gentleman pushing...

Re: My version of "One of us cannot be wrong"

I liked your cover a lot, it was very true to LC's original. I am curious, how much work is involved learning & practicing to get a final product like this one?

Re: Would you pay to meet and greet Leonard Cohen?!

I am glad this thread appeared, both because the green-room "party" was (is) news, and to give the frustrated a chance to vent. Now maybe it's time to move on. I was at the Friday concert with my wife and we stayed at Caesar's Saturday night as well, but I (foolishly) did not get tickets for Saturda...

Brooklyn, welcome to this forum, you will find a wealth of information, musings, and yes, videos of LC's concerts here. I have been here for a number of months now and I still am discovering gems. My wife and I are probably your age and like you, rediscovered Leonard, in our cases in late 2009. One ...

That is one of the best performances of Marianne I've ever seen. Thanks for recording (and finding) it for us Albert.

Re: Leonard Cohen-Live in Norway 1988 Hallelujah

3mariza1, thanks for posting this. Youtube shows a number of videos from this concert, and it seems as though there was/is a compilation that may be available on DVD format. Does anyone know if this is true and if it is available any place for purchase?

One very pleasant attribute of this board is the lack of politics. There are plenty of websites you can go to to express political views, I do not see why you chose to register here on 3/6 just so you could post this on 3/7.

Please reconsider the idea of introducing politics on this forum.

Mike, Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I thought you might want to hear of the outcome of a similar case. A young man who did home/yard work for us suffered a double brain aneurysm back in 1993 (when he was just 33 years old). His recovery was hampered by a persistent staph infection, but even w...

Hi Willy, I am fairly new here too. In college fraternities, the newly-initiated are responsible for "educating" the pledges. I don't purport having any special wisdom about this board, but I would like to welcome you and tell you that there are some pretty amazing people here, Leonard fans to the n...
