Re: PRESALE on March 29 to Gothenburg/Dublin/Paris

Also in North America. I thought presales started 1/2 hour ago, must have misunderstood time zones. Did just score 2 tickets for Barcelona in Row 5, our hope is to see Leonard in Paris 9/28 and then again in Barcelona 10/3. Only have seen 1 concert in 2010, I see that following our hero can get expe...

Re: OLD IDEAS WORLD TOUR: CONCERTS AND TICKET INFO

Jarkko (or others in the know), I am still a newbie to all this, although I did purchase Las Vegas tix through the presale here in 2010. I want to be prepared for some presales, so what do I need to do? For Las Vegas I think purchase was via Ticketmaster, is that the case with these new concerts? If...

Re: When,Where,And What Was The First LC Song You Heard?

My first exposure to LC's music was in the summer of 1972. I was finishing up college then, and one evening visited a friend's apartment, there were four of us there. At some point he put on "a new album he had just bought," one that he felt was interesting and "very different." Of course it was "So...

Looking for printable 2010 Las Vegas poster

Sorry to use board for a personal request. I am making a framed collage as a gift to my wife to commemorate our first LC concert in Vegas on 12/10/10. I would like to include a picture of the concert poster, but can't seem to locate one that I can print in reasonable good quality. Can anyone direct ...

Re: The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame: 1986-Present

Ah yes, I guess I should have guessed that someone with Texas ties would have called me on Bob Wills. And now, I google Professor Longhair, and see that he played New Orleans jazz piano and was an influence on Fats Domino, a favorite of mine. So I guess, who is to determine where to draw the line in...

Re: The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame: 1986-Present

I guess it was inevitable that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, like just about all sports halls of fame, would let a perceived need to induct a number of musicians every year plus a loathing to hurt the feelings of any singer/group who managed to have a few hits cheapen the concept. I marvel at all mu...

Re: Leonard PLUS

What are ipods and mp3s? Am I showing my age? My music comes from ancient technology, a 300-CD changer. While there are a lot of more recent bands/musicians I enjoy immensely, a large portion of my actual listening rests in the 1970s. Most often played are Pink Floyd, Beatles, Doors, Pearl Jam, Jeth...

Re: My version of "Famous Blue Raincoat"

Benny, Your covers are always welcome, and as my forum name suggests, FBR is my (and my wife's) favorite LC song, so this one is a real treat! I would be interested in hearing your version of FBR at a SLIGHTLY faster pace. Unlike many (most?) popular artists, Leonard is known for carefully enunciati...

Re: Would LC consider this?

But then, Leonard Cohen is an unusual writer/musician/performer. Do you mean unusual as in "ridiculous and inappropriate," or unusual in the sense that, "I've never heard of a performer doing something like this"? By limiting the attendees to six and leaving it to Leonard to set the rules and agenda...

Interesting review of Songs of Love & Hate

I came across this on youtube, apologies if already posted somewhere here. It is a recent review of the album Songs of Love and Hate from something called Velocities in Music. I think the two young reviewers (both not even born when the album came out) did a decent job considering they have had litt...

Re: Hidden Gems - Suggestions for a Tribute Show

How about "Storeroom," the bonus song that was included on the CD version of one of Leonard's early albums?

I am surprised that this song never receives much (any?) mention, the music is rather unique and captivating.

Good luck with your project!

Would LC consider this?

I post this with some trepidation, as I fear some will chastise me for making an unfair request of someone we all admire. Here goes anyway. In Las Vegas on December 10 Leonard made this very moving comment before "Anthem": "So many of you here have been to many concerts and have supported us on thre...

Re: Who (or what) introduced you to Leonard Cohen?

Shawomet, Your experience is almost identical to ours (if interested, see post of 8/23/10 under "hello, I'm new to the forum" thread). The only difference is, we were lucky enough to see the PBS fundraiser special a year earlier, at the end of 2009. As a result, were fortunate enough to see LC in La...

Re: Leonard and Roshi (Aug 2, 2011)

When I first viewed the picture as it appears on this thread (at least on my computer screen) I thought it was poignant, but thought LC looked a bit different. The second time I logged on I clicked on the actual website link and saw the whole picture. In case all are not aware, the gentleman pushing...
