Re: PRE-SALE TO WEYBRIDGE, APR 15

Just noticed that on e-bay, fourth and fifth row seats are already being offered at £299 each, and FRONT ROW at £375 (erm...how?). Wonder how this can happen? I got my ticket within one minute of 10am in the presale yesterday and only got row G. :? Same here, block A5 row G. I was just looking at t...

Re: "Leonard Cohen Live in London" - DVD & 2CD - April 2009

What does everyone expect? I was hoping the DVD would at least be on a par with the quality of most other concert DVDs released these days. As I said before, 10 out of 10 for the concert, but the filming and editing is shoddy, and 4:3 aspect ratio looks dated on widescreen TVs. I'll treasure the DV...

Re: "Leonard Cohen Live in London" - DVD & 2CD - April 2009

i finally watched the dvd last night my initial concern was the 4:3 aspect ratio, but the shoddy camera angles and editing were even worse 10 out of 10 for the concert, but the DVD quality is a big disappointment for me :( i'm now wondering if the mooted "best of tour" blu-ray disc will also suffer ...

Re: "Leonard Cohen Live in London" - DVD & 2CD - April 2009

i hope i'm wrong here, but the dvd appears to be in 4:3 (1.33:1) aspect ratio instead of 16:9 widescreen - just about everybody i know has a widescreen tv these days, so shooting the video in 4:3 seems a big mistake to me :(

Re: New York Times interview

Leonard Cohen sat in a Manhattan hotel suite warily submitting to an interviewer’s questions, including one about the music in his laptop’s iTunes. In response, he played a klezmer-style Hebrew hymn, then followed it by singing along with one of George Jones’s weepy country morality tales. “I’ve ha...

Re: Astral Weeks at The Royal Albert Hall

i passed on buying the presale tickets yesterday - way too expensive  i wasn't too happy with VM's hampton court gig last year either. the performance was fine, but tickets were pricey, he was on stage less than 90 minutes, and didn't come back for any encores. it kinda makes me appreciate LC...

Re: Leonard gives to australia relief fund

LC had just £85,000 in March 2006 after being fleeced for £5.4m by his manager, and now he's able to donate $200,000 (£90,000) to the bushfire victims. How appropriate he should donate money to folks who have lost everything. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/4770120.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk...

Re: Sad news - John Martyn has died

Yep, sad news. I was a big fan of John Martyn in the late 70s/early 80s and saw him play live three times. The late DJ MIke Sparrow often used to feature him as a guest on his 'Breakthrough' show on BBC Radio London in those days, and like John E the track Small Hours , featuring his 'echoplexed' gu...

Re: A Very Special Announcement Coming

Could it be that Leonard will grace us with his presence in the form of an online video thanking everyone for making the tour such a wonderful experience for him and the band?

Do I win the raffle? ;-)

Re: Hallelujah on UK X-Factor (all threads merged here)

I just saw the "Hallelujah Chart Battle" being discussed on the BBC News channel - they even played an excerpt of LC's version.

Tis a weird world! :D
