They always rent out those little cushions in the Arena, and very welcome they are too and well worth €2 if you're sitting on those cold stone steps (wet or dry) instead of on the "posh" seats below. BTW there's no dress code nonsense up there either for the operas!

Re: Bob Metzger

Best wishes to Bob Metzger. Much as I love the new sound there were times when I missed his strong contribution, especially on the pedal steel in "Heart with no Companion". Hope he's doing well and not missing too much being on the road and playing in the windy cold!

Re: CONCERT REPORTS: Dublin September 11, 12, 14 & 15, 2012

Joan, thanks for this. I just love this song, and you're right, the violin is gorgeous with it. But better still you also got Leonard's "And I'm fond of you too" response to someone who shouted something like (presumably ) "I love you Leonard!" :D Your review brings back the joy of being there. And ...

Yes, great to hear that! :D The more "oldies" the better too. Looking forward now to Joan of Arc surfacing at some concert....

Re: Roscoe Beck is fantastic!

Yes indeed! He is so underated, although I was glad to hear him get a big cheer in Dublin in response to Leonard's "victim and veteran of these many campaigns" intro. I presume he is responsible for substituting for Dino's wind instruments and integrating Alexandru's violin in the new arrangements -...

Re: Old Ideas Tour fading out? (New songs dropping like flie

Yes, 4 most nights but 6 on the final night. (Although he had been performing "Darkness" already on the last tour, so it's hard to see that as one of the "new" songs) It's understandable that they have to "feel their way" with the new songs, and more willl probably be included as time goes on. No si...

Re: CONCERT REPORTS: Dublin Sept 11, 12, 14 & 15, 2012

Having been to a fair few concerts now at this stage I would have loved to be able to thank him in person for coming back to Ireland but alas, while I did see him walking into his hotel with Sharon Robinson, it would have been wrong to interrupt him. Good on you, burningviolin - I'm sure the tempta...

Leonard, you were splendid in Dublin. Happy Birthday !
Please come back to Ireland, preferably in warmer weather if "they" make you sing outside again... :)

Re: CONCERT REPORTS: Dublin Sept 11, 12, 14 & 15, 2012

It was also great to wait and see Leonard leaving last night and we were well rewarded with waves etc . Not sure what the etc. means, sandraa - in case anyone reading this thinks they missed something, the car drew up right in front of the door and Leonard was just able to give a quick wave and a s...

Re: CONCERT REPORTS: Dublin Sept 11, 12, 14 & 15, 2012

There's always going to be thin line between the more casual fan enjoying the occasion and perhaps upsetting the more committed devotee. Well said, kg7 - there are hardly 40,000 leonard Cohen fans in Ireland who can attend, so a large proportion of the audience will be "only there for the beer", or...

Re: CONCERT REPORTS: Dublin Sept 11, 12, 14 & 15, 2012

Have just returned to computer world. ( Although I did have Joey's ' Notes from the Road' on the mobile and couldn't resist the occasional (expensive!) peep at Leif's intruiging blog on it.) It's good to take a break from computers and, dare I say it, from the forum, at times, but since returning I ...

Re: DUBLIN 2012

I presume LC will be on stage at 7:15 also on Saturday 15, sorry it's too obvious, just my first time. So it will be ok to be in the queue at RHK at 18:00, don't like coming in late and disturbing anybody. It must be 7.15/19:15 for all 4 concerts, Gio, (They'd tell us if not....or would they? :roll...

Re: DUBLIN 2012

Good to know the time for definite.... and it'll mean the Dubs know they don't need to leave home until 7.30... Don't laugh! Half the audience probably won't know the starting time since it's not on the ticket, ( look how long it took us to find out!) and if they assume 8 which is the most us...
