Re: Highway Robbery

The pricing of tickets for LC concerts has made me very very cynical about LC and his management to a point where I have decided not to go to any of the concerts, albeit that I could do so and also that I think the music, performance and musicians are fantastic. 'Capitalism' and making money unfortu...

Re: "Irish tribute gig 'convinced Cohen to tour again'"

So happy to read that LC gracefully declined (and two times) the self promoting egotist Bono's request to meet up for a drink and later lunch, which of course would only have been about one person, himself. This man (Bono) in my opinion is the total opposite to the meekness, kindness and grounded hu...

Re: Tom Jones discusses leonard cohen on BBCTV 27-5-12

I enjoyed the Tom Jones version of 'Tower of Song' and together with his band he seemed to put great emotion in to the performance and arrangement but somehow I doubt that he has been a 'fan' of LC or his music until recently. Since Hallelujah appeared on the Shrek sound track and covered by many on...

Re: PRESALE to Gothenburg/Dublin/Paris

Good morning friends. I want to say this has been an amazing LC journey for me in that I have met all of you wonderful friends from so many different places. And I'm really looking forward to meeting you again in Dublin. I agree with what many of the comments; we allow ourselves to be caught up in ...

Re: Old Ideas - Various Chart Positions

Who the heck is Lana Del Ray? If it weren't for her, Leonard Cohen would be #1 in most countries (on iTunes)! (Of course, Leonard is always #1 with me!) Lana Del Rey is amazing. Been alternating her new album (born to die) and Old Ideas all day today. I sure hope she doesn't self-destruct (I hope s...

Re: Old Ideas/Just My Opinion

This is only my opinion. I like Old Ideas. Maybe because I keep comparing it to Leonard's last album Dear Heather. I think that anything would sound good when compared to DH. I played Old ideas non stop last week when I got it. But this week I don't have much of a desire to hear it. I'll play it th...

Re: Adam Cohen: Like A Man

I wish Adam well with the album and tour but personally after listening to the album trailer/samples unfortunately does not move or interest me in spite of the dynasty connection.

Laura Marling

Have just recently discovered Laura Marling and feel excited and enthused...the same thrill listening to LC gives. At parts there is a strong reminder of the human empathy of Leonard's music (and indeed even of Famous Blue Raincoat chord sequence) but she is of course her own self. A truly amazing y...

Re: Grandchildren

Did not realise until I read it in the Sunday Times at the weekend that Rufus Wainwright is the Father of Lorca's child, Leonard's grandchild: Viva Katherine!

Re: Bird On A Wire on BBC Four: Friday, 19th November 2010

A truely great historical record and very very interesting but I am still horrified by the violent sequence of a man being shot and another person burning even if I can see the link with the song and LC's intro to the song, it was nevertheless shocking and made my whole body react in horror. It cert...

Re: QUIZ 2010: where is the last concert

"the island" and "the desert oasis" appeared to suggest Hydra or Dubai/UAE and Las Vegas but the latter places may not be everyones idea of an 'oasis' and Hydra starts with a 'H' (and may not have an appropriate venue)...I am clueless

Isle of Wight?
Anywhere in the UK is 'island'

Re: CONCERT REPORTS: Sligo, July 31 & August 1, 2010

Great to read all the reviews. For someone with a deep interest and bond with LC I did not bother going to Sligo due to my initial cynicism about yet further concerts and then when I decided I could not miss it inspite of my cynicism the Ticketmaster fiasco (which Robert Kory said he 'would look in ...

Re: Leonard to play in Sligo!!

I do not contribute to the thread for "newbies" (horrible word!) seeking "help", because I am not one of them, and it is becoming more ridiculous by the minute. The Sligo threads mess is now the butt of jokes on other threads, eg Salzburg, and no wonder! And if anything is presented to Leona...

Re: Leonard to play in Sligo!!

TipperaryAnn/FanForLife, I'm with you. Do you think if enough of us speak our mind then the penny will eventually drop with Carlowmike, it's not his show!! p.s please no banners for LC, not his style at all  We live in hope that he too will soon attain the pleasant and harmonious plateau whic...

Re: Leonard to play in Sligo!!

Unfortunately it has now been announced that Westlife are to play Lissadel House the night before LC. I suppose if you are setting up a stage and seats you take advantage of this but I dislike the way it is now looking like a weekend music festival with Westlife (talentless tossers) and LC. It is of...
