Yes, Mary, I do like him...

TO LY24:
I'm glad to hear you translated LC's first poetry book into Chinese, but I'm not sure I understand your question; whom did you try to contact?

Re: "Book of Mercy" in Hebrew - translated by Doron

Thanks to Jarkko for posting the front and back covers of my Hebrew translation of Book of Mercy . I’m glad the book is finally published, after long and painful delays; the manuscript was ready two years ago, but I ended up having to change publisher because of disagreement over the editing of the ...

Re: Sadly, Judith Fitzgerald Has Passed Away

I got to know Judith Fitzgerald (BoHo) through the Book of Mercy discussion I initiated on the Forum back in 2006 (and which went on for over three years). I was intrigued by her unique point of view and inimitable use of language, and felt thrilled and honored by her participation. Was it fortunate...

Re: Sadly, Judith Fitzgerald Has Passed Away

I'm shocked and saddened by this news. She was special and unique. I hope to write more later.

Re: Leonard Cohen (& Ira B. Nadel's) books in Japanese

Of the three Japanese translations mentioned above, I was able so far to locate only the paperback edition of the translation of Beautiful Losers , published 1980. The book was originally published in hardcover in 1970 by Shueisha in Tokyo, in a series of translations titled “Contemporary World Lite...

Re: Leonard Cohen (& Ira B. Nadel's) books in Japanese

Roman, you are truly amazing… I’m trying to get some of those books from libraries here, but you’ve already found photos (including a second edition of Beautiful Losers !). As for your Wiki list, the full titles for the second and third items would be: Shinwa o ikiru - Renādo kōen shishū 1 (translat...

Re: Leonard Cohen (& Ira B. Nadel's) books in Japanese

It seems there are at least two other LC books translated into Japanese: Let Us Compare Mythologies - 「神話を生きる―レナード・コーエン詩集1 」諏訪優翻訳(1977/11)(JCA); the title in Japanese: shinwa o ikiru , also indicating that it is Leonard Cohen's poems collection 1 (the translation of The Spice Box of Earth is indicat...

Re: Leonard Cohen (& Ira B. Nadel's) books in Japanese

By the way, to every LC record issued in Japan (and I believe it means all of them) a booklet is added with the translation of all the songs into Japanese... I wonder if they do that in any other country.

Re: New live album: Can't Forget

Tchoc,

LC and women… We could compose and encyclopedia on the subject, couldn’t we? There are so many different angles. For the time being, thanks for your thoughts.

Re: New live album: Can't Forget

Hi Tchoc, Long time no see (here I mean; we never actually met in the real world, did we?). As a card-carrying feminist I have no problem accepting your interpretation: the man to scrub her armor, the moon (Luna) to guide her on; fine and sensible. I still think he made a mistake, though (otherwise ...

Re: New live album: Can't Forget

Hi Joe,

Thanks for your comments and the additional information. I also think that “good natured” is a good designation for this album. Wishing you a great time on Hydra and also wishing I could be there with you… We’ll keep in touch.

Re: New live album: Can't Forget

I waited patiently for the album to arrive (rather than tasting bits and pieces from it on the Web) and listened to it repeatedly with great pleasure. I’m not much interested in reading journalists’ reviews, but I do appreciate Forum members’ opinions and enjoyed reading them here, so I thought that...

Re: Popular Problems-"The Portrait of the Artist as an Old M

Joe, Thank you so much for your wonderful analysis. You put it all into a very meaningful perspective. I apologize for not responding earlier, but I'm so busy these days that I can hardly find the time to read the responses to the album on the Forum, let alone write any of my own. But you've given m...
