Re: A Leonard Cohen Song Quiz
Hi all, I guess more people have challenged themselves with the quiz, but did not see the need to post their answers, especially after the quite exhaustive efforts posted above by HugoD and B4real. As I suspected, they outdid me on some questions, bringing up some data missed by me when initially pr...

A Leonard Cohen Song Quiz
Hi all, Last year I prepared the following quiz of LC’s songs, thinking I might introduce it during the Event in Ghent this coming summer. It would have been much more fun, and also more challenging, doing it live with a large group of competitive participants, but since the Event is indefinitely po...

Re: Posthumous album
Dear Joe, I guess you (and the others) are right: we'll have to take them as they come and judge them on their merits (although I still would like to keep the right to maintain, in principle, certain reservations). Let's just hope it will be as respectable as we can wish for.

Re: Posthumous album
Mary, Thank you for your comment. Of course, I have no wish to argue (I still shudder remembering those times when the Forum was torn apart by fierce disagreements, or worse, and was saved only due to Jarkko’s wisdom and tolerance), but since you’ve asked me some questions I’ll try to answer. Needle...

Re: Posthumous album
Thanks for all the comments. Here are some quick rejoinders. Geoffrey, Thanks for pointing out the “quote” from the film Youth (which I would not go as far as calling “brilliant”; true, it grips you while you are watching it but it does not leave you with much, just like this video). Lisa, If you ca...

Posthumous album
It’s been quite a while since I last contributed to the Forum or initiated a new thread, but lately I’ve been feeling the need to say the following. It is so good to hear LC’s voice in new songs, and to expect the coming album. Still, I am probably not the only one to have certain reservations. The ...

Re: THE FLAME - Leonard's New Collection of Poetry
I just received my copy of THE FLAME in the British edition; the quality is very disappointing: the paper is too thin, the font is much too small, and on the whole, there is a feeling of a second-rate job, especially when compared with Book of Longing. Since the book is divided into several parts, a...

Please ask him if I could write to him. You can pass me his address through private message here if he agrees.
Thank you very much.

Looking for Dennis Lee
Does anyone happen to know how I could contact the Canadian poet Dennis Lee, who once was one of the editors of LC's literary work?
Thanks,
Doron
Thanks,

Re: A Paul Muldoon poem in Memory of LC
Still, perhaps we should distinguish between different media of expression. In an interview a person may say one thing (and on the whole, LC was fairly consistent in his many interviews, although you can never be sure whether he was quoted accurately in print and what did the interviewer choose to h...

Re: A Paul Muldoon poem in Memory of LC
Joe, Thanks for identifying “Professor Bob”. I reread the interview parts in the New Yorker article once again, and I was struck by the impression that what LC says towards the end is not in tune with the way we interpreted the Darker album; he seems more confident, less doubting, while our impressi...

Great effort, Joe, thanks. It is indeed a very griping poem and a great tribute to LC.

Re: The Darker Album and the Songs
Steven, Joe, Vicki, I appreciate all your comments very much. There’s still a lot to think about; perhaps we should go back to the beginning… Adam, Yes, March 28 is the new moon, the first day of Nisan, the month of spring; in ancient times it used to be the first day of the year, which makes a lot ...
