This is ever so wonderful Violet. Without love...we are rubbish.

Re: Fourteen

Manna, this is simply peaches. The imagery is so evocative. It drums up a few memories of my own. " She could do this kindness " This is my favorite line. It's like a knife in my heart, and I mean that in a good way. It's a "soft knife", if you will. It's certainly no match against "frozen butter". ...

Re: you were cold at the museum

A thousand pardons, my sweet Violet. I had no idea. We men tend to keep our heads safely tucked away in our…well…you know what I’m getting at. From now on, my famous blue frayed-coat is yours. Whether it’s draped around your delicate form, or protecting your feet from those villainous mud puddles. T...

you were cold at the museum

you were cold at the museum

i waited for you
in the lobby,
reading the paper.

you showed up
in a skirt,
and your alabaster legs
were like white sand
peninsulas
for my exploring.

but my fingers were
stained with news print ink,
and i didn't want
to smudge them.

Re: a short poem...for Myra

Thanks for the kind words, Myra. For the record, I have little interest in Sue/Geoffrey. I always turn my collar up (scorch marks and all) to the bitter winds.

Re: a short poem...for Myra

Hi Lizzy! As always, great to hear from you. I'm afraid the lengthy title is something I do regularly, so you're bound to see it turn up again. The inspiration comes from a few places. I'm a big American Music Club fan, and have always been fond of the way Mark Eitzel titles his songs. Songs like: W...

a short poem...for Myra

after the wedding, somebody's going to have to pop all these balloons

you never explained
those scratches and bruises
on your lily white legs.

it's not that you were keeping secrets,
i just never asked.

Re: Office Hooks

Hi Myra, I really enjoyed this as well. It's like a whisper in the ear. I can practically smell her breath (in my case, it would be a her). Nicely done. I’ve written in this style quite a lot, but was afraid to submit it out of fear that it wasn’t lengthy enough. You’ve inspired me to possibly post ...

Re: su soldado

My dearest Violet,

It won’t make me jealous if I hear that you’ve sweetened their nights…you can still bring me comfort and songs.

Yours always,

It was, my dear Violet, but we must be careful. We don't want to upset Georges. ;-)

Re: su soldado

I can't thank you enough, Lizzy. With your permission, I think I'll start calling you and Violet the Sisters of Mercy. Your kindness is unmatched.

Fondly,

-ph
