anyway, here's the organisation he is a member of : http://www.worldsocialism.org/

i don't know much about them, but the guy is quite smart, so i figure, if he's in it - it can't be all bad.

"I believe Leonard Cohen could imagine a world without money. Can you?" Thanks to ex-manager Kelley Lynch he almost not need imagine it. :D :D :D :D :D - that's a very good one. i'm not going into money/no-money issue. i'd certanly like the world my close friend fights for (no money), but he himsel...

i don't think singing protest songs did much regarding stopping the war or anything else for that matter. in the words of "Croatian Cohen", 'important decisions are made by other professions, we are just here to document and remember'. that's why i think people usualy grow out of this form of rebeli...

i'm not sure i agree. "most memorable songs"? well, both his greatest hits, and my personal favorites all are from his later period. he wasn't even the best protest singer IMHO (i prefer Phil Ochs). he may not seem as heroic as he does in the documentary (which i haven't seen yer) if the story went ...

Speaking of Highway 61 makes me think of Squidgy as we once had a great conversation about how U. S. Highway 61 runs down from the Canadian border near Thunder Bay, Ontario not too far from Hibbing-it becomes the great river road between Minnesota and Wisconsin while heading south to New Orleans. I...

i don't realy know, but it could be Environmental Justice Program... back in the 60s students would protest against the war and destruction of environment at the same time. in this poem, there can be found motives of both, i think: FOR E.J.P. I once believed a single line in a Chinese poem could cha...

i know. but that's a 'readily available' information. if someone posts "who was Suzanne?" or "who was Marianne?", i'll be happy to fill him in. but threads that we have often witnessed like "i need to analyse a LC poem for my school essey" sound a lot like "can you do my homework for me please? i so...

well Leigh, like Tom said, it does help to start the thread with some of your own ideas. people often come here with "please help me analyse this poem or that song", and never come back again (usualy they need it for a school assignment). i used to reply, but lost interest with time because there'd ...

i think "secret life" refers to inner thoughts. i think the song juxtaposes what he does on the outside and what he thinks he should do inside. Tom made a good point in comparing "secret life" and "a life lived a thousand kisses deep". he also writes: "Secret Life is obviously Leonard's life, and th...
