Basia Bulat sings "So long Marianne"

This cover is apparently part of CBC's "Leonard Cohen week", with birthday wishes from Basia at the end of the song.

Re: Singing priest's Hallelujah wows wedding guests

Hello Sereneava, this is the Polish translation of the original Leonard's text by Maciej Zembaty, the poet/singer known for making Poland the country where Leonard Cohen always had huge following. This is the text always ...

Hate to ruin a wonderful illusion, from today's perspective however Lech Walesa seems more like a facade for a complicated political power play going at that time in Poland...

Re: New Unified Hearts Logo

LOVE your addition here, mirka, regarding Leonard's long-ago concert in Poland, with the two lines and lists peacefully merging. [Perhaps, the leaders of those lines could come over for a bit and give our deeply divided government a hand ;-) ] Lizzy, all this happened long time ago, in another time...

Re: New Unified Hearts Logo

I was at the Warsaw concert, Daniel Wyszogrodzki doesn't tell the whole story of the line "formed in a week's advance, controlled day and night by me and my friends from the car" , possibly because he doesn't know it. There was another line, also formed appr. in a week's advance by another group of...

Re: Leonard Cohen of mobile generation ?

I agree URPal, he might be closer to Cat Stevens, I must be obsessed hearing LC everywhere  There are more authentic clips of him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RncRYO9dbSQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rgjt_71twA And in the PinkPop Show he is using his full stage voice, still very differen...

Re: The birds they Tweeted at break of day...

mirka - Back in the 1970s when Leonard was still widely regarded as the "grocer of despair" he was asked why he thought people came to his concerts. He used an analogy to the effect that if a tragedy happens, such as a road accident, people will come to stare at it out of some kind of morbid fascin...
