Here is the you tube link to the Jian Ghomeshi interview with LC from earlier today. I haven't listened or watched it yet, will do as soon as the baby naps.
Enjoy all.

That was great, thanks Bert. Reading the 'evolution' of the Rolling Stone reviews was fascinating.

Re: Claims That Bucklely's Hallelujah Is Cohen's Favourite
I recently heard an interview on this topic, likely on CBC, I will post if I can remember exactly when or where I heard it. In short, according to this interview, LC either spoke with or wrote to Buckley's mother after Buckley's death, telling her that after hearing JB's version of Hallelujah, he fe...

Re: "Partisan" translation
Hi News Gal - is that Cherokee script in your signature? It looks just beautiful, so unique (to my eyes in any case). My brother-in-law is Ojibwe, so I have heard some Objibwe, but not a great amount. One of the most interesting English accents I've heard is Inuit - very distinctive and completely d...

Re: "Partisan" translation
Darling - I'm so happy that someone finally noted that LC's French accent is not a Quebec or French Canadian accent. It is his own brand of heavily accented Anglo French. While I know it certainly isn't the best French, I do find it so charming, especially in Un Canadien Errant, a favourite of mine....

Re: What's your favourite song from each LC studio album?
This is interesting. I'm pleasantly surprised that Take This Waltz seems to be a favourite of most - it is in my top three or four all time favourite songs but I wondered if many others appreciated it. I lived in Vienna as a young university student in the early 1990s, this song was a favourite then...

Re: What's your favourite song from each LC studio album?
Thanks for starting this thread, this was fun, albeit difficult to pick only one favourite. We have a number in common. Here are mine: Songs of Leonard Cohen: Sisters of Mercy Songs from a Room: Lady Midnight Songs of Love and Hate: Joan of Arc New Skin for the Old Ceremony: Take this Longing Death ...

This could change daily, but my first gut response without thinking too much: Lady Midnight, followed by Joan of Arc.

Re: Leonard Cohen Interview on "Q" - April 16th
I heard the Billy Bob interview as well, appalling. Jian handled it well, considering. After Jian's article in The National Post about the LC interview I think there is much anticipation of the April 16th interview. I can't wait.

Wanted: two tickets for either Ottawa show
Hi there - I have some friends who want tickets for one of the Ottawa shows, but don't want to pay over $200 per ticket. I'm not entirely sure that there are any tickets under $250 - I tried several times to buy cheaper tickets for another friend and none were available. But just in case - either sh...

Re: National Post - Leonard Cohen talks women, age & Hallelujah
Great article, thanks for posting it. I must admit to avoiding the National Post like the plague normally ... I listen to parts Jian's programme Q most mornings as I'm at home with young children at the moment. I like him, but after reading that article I think I appreciate him even more. I am very ...

I've got to start listening to Radio 2 I guess, but I'm a Radio 1 addict. They played Everybody Knows on As it Happens tonight ... .
Has anyone from the forum won a ticket yet on the Radio 2 contest?

Re: anyone going to kingston, london, AND ottawa???
I spent a night at the Business Inn a couple of years ago. It is close to the NAC. I would describe it as adequate or fine. The lobby is pleasant. The rooms are tired and bland, but nothing really wrong with them either. It is on Elgin Street, above a popular pub/bar (Maclarens), so it is busy in th...

Re: anyone going to kingston, london, AND ottawa???
Hi - Cate's advice is correct. London is a bit tricky - it is a relatively small town and to get Ottawa from London you will almost certainly have to pass through Toronto, which is a pain as Toronto is huge and it isn't so easy to 'pass through.' You can do either bus or train. You can also fly from...
