Re: There in Spirit

Mikeee~

Sorry to read about your daughter's diabetes.

As for Mark and his mother, I hope some justice and peace can be found. Good for you for stepping in like you have.

Good luck.

Okay, I've thought of a word, too...it took a while, but one finally came to me.

Re: Sonnets and Sonneteers wanted

I had some haiku published. I carved one of them into clay just this afternoon. Laurie. So which one did you carve into stone, Laurie? Can you expand it into a sonnet ? ;-) MatbbgJ Well, since you asked, as of yesterday I have all five sitting on tiles. It was a time consuming process so my instruc...

Re: Sonnets and Sonneteers wanted

If what I said made you "cringe" you are a very delicate flower. If you're just in 'like' with the notion anything I say can be twisted into sounding/feeling like a bitch-slap, that's internal, not external....but I'm sure you can get a chorus to agree if you'd like...still doesn't make it so. Can't...

Re: John Rolf Hecht

Alan, try to make your crits more constructive. Please read my posts above and learn how to do it all proper-like. Weirdly, despite all the faults you mention and I parody, this has more rhythm than anything I can remember the dispreacher guy ever posting. Thanks for the first laugh of the morning....

Re: John Rolf Hecht

Show don't tell. This is basically an essay with line-breaks for the most part. "John was always dressed well".... then you go on to describe 'well dressed.' Why tell your reader he is was "...always well dressed..."? Find another way to tell us he and his coat are "rich." "What I also saw was that ...

Re: To Make Presents of Spider Webs

What??!!!??? No bellybutton? 8) I really like the subject matter and can see you have taken a lot care on your line breaks and details that move and are visually well laid out for your readers. I found myself getting a bit confused about your method of delivery. Is this a recipe for gathering webs l...

Re: Buck Cleary

It's really easy to think a clever/profound-like statement should be the closer in a poem. I think your final line should be your opening line. And you leave/make no connection between "Zulu plain" and being "bitter." It is as if, if he had lost his leg on a Zulu mountain or a subway accident being ...

Re: Seashell

No Mat, he is a 'trained' poet, he studied it in school and knows the difference between what is a diary entry and subject matter that is crafted into a poem (real poem), even if it is self-centered.
It's insulting to believe otherwise.

Re: Seashell

There is the Bellybutton-Gazing school of poetry that Mat belongs to and there is the kind of poetry school that others enjoy reading that Manna belongs to.
Take your pick.
